My memory isn't good enough to dissect all the plays, but the play design on Benjamin's drop (not his fault), and the overthrow to McCaffrey was excellent.  Benjamin was open, just a good hit.  McCaffrey could have walked into the end zone.  Irt the others, I would have to look at them.

Those plays failed due to execution.

Not every play design is bad, just like even the worst player can make a good play sometimes.

At one point yesterday, Rich Gannon was heard to ask why so many receiving options were bunched up in one place.

How many times have we heard announcers ask that same question?

Probably when two receivers run the same route and aren't where they are supposed to be. I promise you that bunched up receivers is NOT how it was drawn up. Maybe that is why we have a different wide receiver coach this year.

Even if that's true you still can't explain why it takes so long. 15 seconds is not enough time to adjust the line, motion, and audible if need be.

Again that is guaranteed not usual. Tell me this how many times do you see Cam hurry to the line to make sure he has time instead of walking to the line almost casually? Yeah..   .

Depends on if I was being serious or being facetious. In either case we would agree that no one designs plays  to draw the defenders to the same spot.

Nobody that knows what they're doing, anyway.

I could see doing it as a decoy, but as a regular target, that's not wise.

And no, I don't believe it only happens because receivers screw up.

Plus I love how we went from Turn Style Remmers to Turn Style Kalil.. The Offensive line was terrible and how about the time it took to get the plays in.. If the line cannot create holes for McCaff or protect Cam which I think is a trickle down of the time it took to get the plays in... But Kalil was getting beat a lot yesterday...Hopefully the offense line will get it together

Then you think Shula planned it that way. No wonder we can't have a reasonable conversation about Shula given your biases and unfounded beliefs. I can promise you it only happens with poor execution. At least outside of high school football.

Totally off the wall. Why waste a post on that type of stupid. Players got beat on the line in one on one matchups because Cam didn't get them to the line fast enough. That makes no sense at all.

If you think it only happens when our receivers make mistakes, then they must make an awful lot of mistakes.

If you think every time that an execution error occurs it is Shula's fault, then you would be in good company in the huddle. Totally wrong but in good company.

I'm also in the company of several announcers. I've been hearing them ask that question during Panther games pretty much since Shula got the OC job.

    • Yeah that with the Taylor Moton clip from yesterday...These guys have felt completely hamstrung the last two weeks
    • Our receivers were right there on the field, they also watched Bryce on film, and it sounds like they're looking forward to Dalton. Xavier Legette on Andy Dalton: "He got a fine understanding of things. I like the way he throws the ball and how to position it, so I feel like we going be good... On the go balls, he knows the right timing and the right among of air... The deep ball that's something I feel I'm good at, and that's something I been working on at practice [with Andy]... I ain't talked to him [Bryce] about it [the benching] yet, but we just got to continue to play. Next man up, and it's Andy."   Diontae Johnson on Andy Dalton: "A vet who's been back there for a while and knows the game, so once you have a guy like that back there, it allows you to be yourself more... He takes a lot off our plate just by having that experience knowing what to do, getting us the right calls, knowing when the pressure is coming..."
