Shutting down the new Panthers "evolved" offense in two easy steps!

I'm going to tell you something most of you don't know because you only watch the Panthers. Every qb misses wide open throws every single week. The difference is Cam is rarely put in a position to succeed by schemes and play calling that when Shula finally dials something up right and Cam doesn't nail it then it looks worse. Yet nobody wants to talk about how Shula constantly puts him in 3rd and long with his incompetence.

My memory isn't good enough to dissect all the plays, but the play design on Benjamin's drop (not his fault), and the overthrow to McCaffrey was excellent.  Benjamin was open, just a good hit.  McCaffrey could have walked into the end zone.  Irt the others, I would have to look at them.

There are 3 really good QBs in the NFC getting killed by their Olines-Wilson, Rodgers and Cam. 

Not having Kalil at center really hurts the offense. He comes back, the offense will look much better. If I was a panthers fan, be much more worried about the other Kalil.

And, the offense is just going to take some time to come together. Cam is rusty, learning rapport with new players and working on the short game, which was never his strength. Assuming the Oline gels, this offense will be potent going into the second half of the season, maybe sooner.

Best thing is [not for me, but for you], despite all the struggles, you're team is 2-0, will likely be 3-0 next week, because the Saints are just that bad. Haven't lost anything in the standings while you figure it out.

If you come up with something that looks great for a season or so, you're not brilliant, you're lucky.

If you wanna say Shula is brilliant, you pretty much have to adopt an "everybody's fault but his" strategy, something which rarely has much if any validity.

That is what is wrong with yours and other posts. You have to use a wild exaggeration to make a point. Do you hear anyone say Shula is brilliant or doesn't need to improve. Even he would tell you there is a lot he wants and needs to improve on. Shula is decent at his job and when given good line play he is better than average. His play design is creative and very good. His playcalling is average at best. But he doesn't deserve all the crap he gets here so that some of us feel we have to defend him from all these biased and baseless criticisms.

I wish I had the free time to do it, but GamePass let's you view the coaches All 22 tape to go back and dissect the plays.

I noticed a couple of times yesterday CMC open in the flat, but Cam went elsewhere.

I doubt it will make the hightlight shows, but my favorite play of the game showcased what I was hoping to see from the'evolved' offense. Buffalo sent an overload blitz from the left side, CMC slipped out of the backfield and Cam hit him right behind the blitz. CMC got a little YAC. I would love to see more of that.

scheme is important and all, but even more so than that, when your men get beat one on one at the point of attack(see oline).

But yes, offensively, Shula is killing us.  I'd also like to add, the worst part about all of it is that one huge chunk of our difficulties could be solved by simply getting the plays in quicker.  The problem with the blitzes isn't so much the hits, although they certainly do matter, but i think the bigger issue is that getting to the line so late with no time on the clock doesn't allow Cam to survey the field or make audible as often as needed...  it usually causes the offense to rush and then execution gets sloppy - guys miss blocks, rushers go free, Cam can't see where the free runner is coming from because they're able to time the blitz with the playclock...  it is just maddening.

I say let Cam run the hurry up again...  it was how we were at our best in 2015.  Enough trying to show us how uncreative you are Shula.  Let a pro handle it, and give Cam the keys to the offense again.

I gotta say,

1.  Not running the hurry up

2.  Taking Newton, the best player on the field out, to run Maccfrey in the wildcat, and who didn't know that was a waste of time 

3.  Opening the game as they always do, with Stewart off the right side

4. And the best of all, 1st and 1.   1 yard with a 6ft 5incb QB, and Shula does not run him or some fake to the line and then a throw like big teams do

5  telegraphing every play to Mccafrey   That boy won't live to mid season if they don't start using him better

we can analyze all we want, but more of the same is ahead for 14 weeks  Shula will not go until Richardson  does, he is Don's boy you know, Colts and NFL royalty 

losing to a better team is one thing. Losing by being stupid is another

Without smarter play calling in the red zone CMC and Cam will not make it through this season imo.

This team is not built to put the ball in the air and chase a team. Kalil will get Cam injured if we have to air it out. When we're in the red zone against a dominant front 7 we MUST throw the ball to KB/FUNCH or drop it off to CMC in space. Running into the teeth of a dominant run defense in the red zone is unacceptable. Throw a high one in the endzone to KB. Do it 3 times, or to Funch high. That's a TD on one of those 3 passes. No more shithead runs into a brick wall defense in the red zone. We have to stomp on teams early to spare Cam a serious injury if not to win.
