When is enough enough

Cam accounted for 45 TDs on our superbowl run and the offense still dealt with wasted timeouts and terrible situational play calling. Cam was literally superman that year. Now he is coming off shoulder surgery and Shula is too dense to adjust to help compensate for that.

Sorry but when we win it's in spite of Shula, not because of him.  Learn the difference.  During the SB season, how often did we squeak out narrow victories late after having a lead because our offense went into a very predictable shut down mode, and failed to adjust to the changing defensive scheme of the opponent? In case you forget, it was every week.

Yep. People quote that season but 15-1 was just like last year. The difference is we lost those squeeky close games. Our losses last year were mostly all decided by 3 pts. And they say 3 south titles but we won one in a losing year. Guess what the other teams fired, hired, drafted, and signed coaches, players, and front office. What did we do to get better? Fired or lost FO people most of which never got replaced. And rehired a GM who we let go. Oh and we're still rolling with the same coaches after up and down seasons since they got here.

In this league your either getting better or standing still while everyone passes you by.

Fully agree with previous two posts.  We have the personnel in place.  IMO this is the most complete roster we have had to date.  We have holes, of course, but as a package - this is as big as it gets.  Coaching and playcalling are the difference.  I think Ron is a hell of a coach Monday through Saturday.  And that matters,  but sometimes, on Sundays, you need to have a spark, and I'm not sure Ron can motivate guys on game day.  There just seems to be a level of timidness.  I think we all saw it even during the Riverboat era.  Out of curiosity, I would love to see Dorsey call the plays, just for one game.  I'd put money on that.

Wasn't Shula our OC when we went to the Super Bowl,  And then won 3 divisional titles in a row.  Or does he just get cedit for the bad stuff??? 15-1 and don't blame the SB loss on Shula.  That was refs and the fact that the WR's couldn't catch a fugging cold.

Shula ran Cam into the ground in 2015.  Cam was the whole offense and did everything.  Maybe Cam needs more now, Maybe Cam needs actual good game plan and execution.

That definitely explains the wasted TOs like we had in the first game and every other game of Shulas career.

That definitely explains the stupid play calling in the redzone like this game, last game and every other game of Shulas career.

Life really is easy for the mentally deplete it seems.

2015 you were a fan of his work, no?

We said we need a Oline, we went out and got one. Our 3 in the middle are great and we are drafting and signing players to fill the other needs on the line.

We said we need weapons for Cam. We draft KB, CMC, Samuel, Funchess. Stew is still a powerhouse back.

We said we need speed so we get Samuel, CMC.

How many more things do we "need' for this offense to be good? At this point it feels like a cop out and we should be in position to light up the scoreboard.

Is it Cam? Is his rust really that bad? He's made some bad passes but that shouldn't ruin a strong run game.

This is why I think it's Shula. We have time and again had all these excuses for our offense not performing but at the end of the day what's one of the things that hasn't changed or added to this team. Again it's Shula, he maybe a scapegoat but honestly no matter what we do with personnel we still struggle. How much more times do we have to say "we need a LT, we need a #1 WR, we need speed" till it hits home that no matter who we add if we are running Shula's offense we aren't great.

The overthrows were on cam... that's it... he played very well considering. Our o line was an embarrassment

Because when you roll him out you eliminate half the field,   Our Wr's have a hard enough time getting open with out eliminating half the field.  And when they do get open Cam cant hit them.  I know its the forbidden fruit saying Cam needs to be more accurate but I figured since he said it in post game I could say it in here.  He did do much better for the most part today maybe hes just starting to knock off the rust.  He was really rusty against SF 1st half little better in the second half and then even better against the Bills.  Maybe next week he will be the same old Cam

Yeah, and the one time he rolled out we had a first down, if I remember correctly.

I think Cam gets more into the game when he is given the opportunity to run like he can.  Even if it is just 4 or 5 runs per game.   You have to make the defense be concerned with his running ability.   Right now, no one is worried about him running again.   Cam needs to run like he did in 2015.   It is who he is.  Stop trying to make him a pocket passer.  While I think he is very good in the pocket (given time) he needs to bring the danger back of him running.   If defenses have to put a spy on him it is one less defender against the pass.

Shula is an idiot for removing this from his game.

Cam's going to have to get a hell of a lot WORSE before I will consider him the problem.  Does no one recall what we had at quarterback before Cam got here?  I recall with Delhomme I would always cringe when he dropped back to pass - unless he was going to smitty it was a 50/50 proposition (in my mind) of which team was going to get the reception.

Cam is extremely talented and he's got talent in his wide receivers and running backs.  The problem is scheme.  We couldn't block Shaq Lawson and Dareus yesterday and it didn't seem to matter where they lined up.  Good OC's will see that and send in plays, ON TIME, that negate the pass rush.  All I saw yesterday was 3 or 4 wide outs on deep or medium routes.  Very few slants, screens, or crossing patterns from our best slot receiver.

Big contrast watching Matt Ryan last night getting to the line of scrimmage with 18 seconds on the play clock and having a chance to actually see what the defense is showing.  Cam usually gets to the same point with 8 seconds on the play clock.
