It's either season ending surgery, or let it heal on its own and that'd be probably be around 8 weeks. So IR him and have him return when eligible could be best case scenario.

Dickson is at absolute best a mediocre temporary stopgap for the TE2 position. We should have been seeking a permanent upgrade years ago. Remember what the offense looked like with even a washed up TE like Shockey brought into the fold?

Now we're in a position where our OL is struggling and we have no #1TE who was also coincidentally our #1 receiver.

It's ugly, and we put ourselves in this predicament.

I actually told myself the same thing for a second, but it's wishful thinking. G-Reg doesn't draw in the passer's eyes in a problematic way - he's just a brilliant safety valve who puts himself squarely in the visual field when most needed. He provides diversity rather than stifling it. Hard to replace.

Barnidge just worked out for Houston, and they also need a TE. No reports of any offer being made.

Realistically, what are the options at TE now?

1) Promote Dickson to TE1 and call up Armah and go back to using a FB.

2) Promote Bucky Hodges from the PS, but how quickly can he learn the playbook?

3) FA signing like Barnadge? Is LaDarius Green healthy? Gavin Escobar? Not much out there

4) Trade? Might be too early in the season to be looking at this option. Not much out there right now anyways. Monitor the situation in Cinci and make a move for Eifert who is a UFA after this season?

5) Funchess? Can he take over in the same role Olsen had and lining up as a TE?
