A word on sacks

lightsout

Recommended Posts

Some people in the game thread have this idea that EVERY throw has to be within three seconds. No. It doesn't. Because not every play is a quick hitter. Some require time to open up.

Sacks were not on Cam. The first, Kalil got destroyed off the edge. Another, Williams got destroyed.

Blame Shula for putting this offense in terrible situations where it's obvious we're passing, allowing the d to pin their ears back and come after the pass rush. It's not about Cam holding the ball forever. If you think that, find the coaches film and please point out the obvious open receiver that Cam failed to see fast enough. Until then, don't talk football if you don't know football.

Funny thing is, some of you saying Cam was holding the ball too long were defending Matt Kalil last week when I said he was inconsistent and getting worked.

If this were true then all the sacks would have been within 2 seconds or less.  But at least two were closer to 4 seconds of Cam standing still in a pocket collapsing around him after 3+ seconds, including one of them that contributed to falling out of FG range

Find the open receiver. Sack is better than throwing into coverage
