Meaning??

I have worked as a human service professional for many years. I have a masters in counseling.

...and you think Cam Newton needs counseling because of how he responded to a question that had nothing to do with him or his play?

Tell me, should I have have steak or tacos tonight?

That was hilarious.  However...I did not like Cam's demeanor from the start.  Someone get me in to have a talk with him.

i don't think it's that big of a deal. the press has never been his friend. they look for any and every chance to pounce on him and are generally two faced in talking with him. it's been like this since he was in college.

joe person has been the worst in the local media as far as trying to stir poo up and create drama where there is none and the vibe i get is that no one in the panthers organization like talking to him or answering his questions so it's understandable why cam would catch an attitude with him from time to time.

he didn't act the way i probably would have, but then i'm not in his shoes and i don't have to deal with media scrutinizing and critiquing every step i take the way they do with him which is really is much more than any other player in the league has to put up with.

he obviously doesn't like this part of his job, but the poo that he has to put up with them all probably just makes it worse.

i'm not going to criticize someone for not acting "professional" when you are dealing with an industry that has stabbed him in the back time and time again. why play nice with sharks? if they want to be treated nicer and with more respect, quit being jackasses. being the "bigger man" is fine for a while, but at some point you just have to quit playing nice when you realize the other side has no intention of doing that.

Grown men complaining about how a grown man responds to a grown man in a press conference.

You all cant possibly be living your best lives.

I unknowingly married a psychopath. I've stayed with her for the betterment of my children. That said, I doubt .05% of the population are living their 'best life'.

I think Cam is being somewhat contradictory. His main excuse for not answering questions regarding other teams and other players is "I have a lot on my plate being the QB of the Carolina Panthers" but the moment he hears about the media engaging in a 40 yard dash, he's all ears and spends a good 4 minutes on the topic.

I don't mind him brushing off questions and giving one word answers, but at least stay consistent in your reasoning.

I've never heard Cam give that answer unless he's asked non-relevant questions about other teams that he's not a part of and most of the other questions are about the previous game.

The 40 yard dash is panthers media racing and he explained he'll love to see so he can be the reporter for once and critique them like they do to him.

Cam was in a pissy mood the whole press conference. I was cringing very badly. I didn't even make it to the 4:20 mark. Im a huge Cam supporter, but just answer the questions man and quit being a dick. They aren't asking anything crazy or trying to get dirt out of you. They are basic questions. You get paid in the 8 figures to be a professional athlete. Just take those 10 minutes to be professional and lose the attitude. I expect poop but Im just being honest. Its extremely irritating

I rarely defend this inaccurate and unreliable QB, but the human tolerance for bullsh*t just isn't infinite at any pay grade. I have no idea why this league keeps forcing players through these Chinese water torture sessions where reporters ask the same boring and empty questions. A third of the questions are unanswerable for football reasons, another third designed to look innocuous while eliciting answers that can later be mischaracterized, and the last third so inane that no intelligent or interesting answer could possibly be given. Joe Person specializes in questions that fall into BOTH of the last two categories.

Imagine you're finishing up a twelve-hour workday at YOUR workplace and a gaggle of press hacks shows up to drone at you with questions like "So...Cindy from accounting has a birthday coming up in September...why do you think that is?" or "A lot of people are saying that the water cooler isn't what it was...not as much water in it as last week...how do you feel about that?" And then later they write an article about how you didn't smile enough when answering and might be an attitude problem.

After a few years of that, you might get irritable.
