Don't you guys remember the Wednesday pressers from 2015? Cam was having the time of his life in practice and on Sundays. Go back and look at those Wednesday pressers (if you can). They're exactly like this one. This isn't new. This isn't a mood. This isn't a temporary thing.

This is how he deals with the media when talking about football. It's a political mine field for him. He wants to end it as quickly as possible without saying anything that blows up in his face. For example, look at how his demeanor changed when talking about the media 40 yd dash. He lights up because he can say just about anything and it will be ok. Back to football? Back to the Cam that is doing his version of Belichick.

Joe's question was a softball to Cam to say some nice words about his friends that went to Buffalo. Cam decided to be a dick instead.

I don't see what everyone is falling over themselves about.

The thing about seeing Cam like this is, I wonder if the NFL or the Panthers have lost their luster to Cam.

The worst possible scenario is Cam not happy. He, Luke and TD are my favorites players. I don't want to see such an amazing player and person sour on the game or the Panthers.

Do you think this is a thing? Or is the media just been nasty to the point where he despises that portion of his job?

ALOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE HAVE MORE ACCES THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

He has literally had this same approach to his Wednesday press conferences since he was a rookie. Seldom do you ever see him get excited or even crack a smile in these.

Him lighting up about the media 40 yard dash was probably the most relaxed/at ease I've seen him during a Wednesday press conference in quite some time.

Basically, nothing to see here.

This is pretty much spot on.  Cam sits with all the media in the room before he does his pressers and chats with them.  He doesn't "hate" any of the media that cover the Panthers, he just knows when he's talking football, he has to be careful he doesn't say anything that can get twisted around.

Now could he change his approach slightly in order to not come off as being a dick?  Probably so, but I understand why he's that way.  Pointing out the media 40 yard dash thing is the perfect example; that's genuine Cam.

I think this is a learned behavior from Cam from his (and others) experiences with the media and then reading what they write or say. He has developed this thick skin or armor and mannerisms (however you want to describe it) because he thinks this is the safest way to deal with the media. Darth Bill gets praise for how he deals with the media and so many of them say when he's not talking football he's funny and a great guy. Everything I've seen, Cam is fantastic with people. But puts on this face for the media and has been doing it for a while now.

That's how I see it anyways. I don't know Cam or anything like that.

Thanks, I have watched most of his Wednesday pressers. This one just seemed a bit more cringeworthy than normal. This being one of the first this year, my memory of last years pressers are less sharp, so that may be the issue.

I appreciate your insight. I think because of the amount time that has passed, this just felt more hostile.

Memory from year to year is getting less and less sharp.

Also, makes me feel better to hear other people say he is fine.

I dont blame Cam one bit.  The media twists and turns everything, and takes things out of context for their hot tweets.  They know we arent going to listen to the whole presser, they they are going to pick and choose what they want to sell to fit their own agenda.  I actually think this is what happened to tolbert, he probably made a joke about snitching and the media ran with it.  I dont think the majority do this, but all it takes is one then its a story.

lol at some people getting on Cam for being a dick to the media after what they've done to him since being drafted.

What are you talking about? The Panthers beat writers have been very fair to Cam and so have the fans. Every QB gets criticized from time to time though. It's how he handles it that counts.

The media in general cannot be separated from "beat writers". And fans have been ummm...I'll go with mostly supportive and leave it at that. Check out any Facebook Post to have your stomach turned.

But back to the point, the media is the media and they have been writing stories taking shots at him since before he was drafted (probably in college too but I wouldn't know). So his way of dealing with them is as a collective whole when talking football. At least that's how I see it.

It's like this with almost every PC lately though. Somehow, 31 other QB's find a way to be personable more often than not, even though they have bad days too. You can blame fans all you want, but this is not a good look for Cam.

Lately, huh? Well maybe Cam is finally wearing thin on people like you and the media who constantly have something negative to say about him or his play. It's just unfortunate Joe and his softball question got caught in the crossfire. Man, I remember 2015 so well. You and a lot of the media took issue with how Cam celebrated or appeared to be arrogant. Y'all didn't like this, y'all didn't like that...quite possibly, he could've decided that no matter what he does it won't be enough and decided to just be a dick *shrugs*. Either way, y'all will be fine whether he's a dick or not.

Also, if I go through an analyze other QB, players, and coaches, I guarentee that there are many more that are just like or act like Cam does in these conferences. The only thing I care about is that Cam is a good on the football field, and good to the kids. Some grown ups getting their feelings hurt...*shrugs*

Lol, I see you choose to ignore a lot. The fans have not always been fair, and Cam is criticized a lot more than your average QB. The man was told he had a fake smile for crying out loud. To say he's been treated fair is quite laughable

Can you give me an example of how the local media has been less fair to Cam than any other Panthers QB? As for fans, Chris Weinke and Jake Delhomme were called all kinds of vile names by fans. So what? That comes with the territory.
