Panthers claim CB Ladarius Gunter, waive Butker

I don't understand why people are poo pooing this. Did you all expect to sign a shut down corner off the waiver wire? As for the kicker, Gano is perfect so far and that's all we have to go on for this season, just like those two FG's by Butker were all we had to go on with him. For all we know, Butker could be terrible.

You will understand when Gano misses yet another clutch kick and we lose a game for it.

Not sure what all the negative reaction is about but this is an excellent pickup for us. Added depth at a position we needed to add depth.

Hey, a rational, and sound point. Who'd a thunk it? jk

Looks like he has potential but who really knows.

I'm just tired of seeing Gano lose us games, at this point I think it's just a matter of when not if he misses another crucial kick.

LOL. So now, if Gano is not perfect. You can be right. Way to play it safe there.

I would just like to say, Gano had a broken bone in his plant foot last year. Considering the circumstances, I'd say he did a fine job.

That said. Predicting failure of a future event are we? You gotta love when folks use this tactic to make a point. If you are right, there will be great rejoicing. If you are wrong, there will be great rejoicing. Either way, you win. Gots to love those odds.

  • The Green Bay Packers announced they have waved cornerback Ladarius Gunter. Gunter played 1,055 snaps for the Packers in 2016 while starting 19 of 20 games (including playoffs). Heading into this past offseason, Gunter was supposed to compete for a starting spot, but his play continued to push him down the depth chart.
  • Gunter essentially came out of nowhere last season after only playing 44 snaps as a rookie. His play left a lot to be desired, earning just the 97th-ranked grade among cornerbacks at 41.9 overall.
  • In the 2016 NFC Conference Championship Game, Gunter was torched by Falcons receiver Julio Jones, giving up six catches on eight targets for 144 yards and two scores. That game Gunter earned an overall grade of just 21.9. Coincidentally, Gunter’s release comes just prior to the Packers Week 2 matchup verse the Falcons.

Well he may or may not miss some clutch kicks.  I can't predict the future, but I have no idea how good or bad Butker would have been either and neither does anybody here. What I do know is that we just got a good back up corner who fits our defense perfectly for next to nothing.

Are you kidding me? I don't give a sh*t if I'm right or not. If I'm right, that fuggin sucks because that means we lost a game because of it, which is never fun. Also, "The best predictor of future behavior is … past behavior". I have no doubt Gano is going to miss a kick when it matters most and the Huddle is going to meltdown.

As for the broken bone, I honestly did not know that. We'll see whether that excuse was legit or not this year. Since he is currently our kicker, I'm going to be rooting for him. I just have zero confidence in him.
