Keep a bit of perspective when piling on Peppers

I thought the comment from Greg Cosell, the respected analyst from NFL Films, on WFNZ this morning was very telling. He described Peppers as an "old story" in the NFL with the consensus being that he runs really well and is a great athlete but an average football player. Free agency might bring good money because there's always one GM who thinks he can turn a guy into a better player than he was.

argggghh its not just about sack #'s, its about effort, overall impact - CONSISTENTLY in games. Peppers does not have that. He shows up in small spurts. Overall he has little impact, if any on games. In big games forget about it. I can not remember the last time Pep had any impact in one of those.

It isn't really peppers fault that the team named him a franchise player and is paying him more than he (or any other defensive lineman) is worth.

Also, one other point in comparing Allen to Peppers. Allen was going up against the worst team in the NFC irt sacks allowed. They would be the worst even if you take away Allen's 4.5 sacks against them. Dallas is in the middle of the league. So Allen wasn't exactly going up against the best.

Allen also has the Williams wall in the middle. Thats one of the best DT Duo's out there.

this

does anyone thinks they help him just a little bit.. a tiny bit. maybe??:D

what was funny to me was for all those sacks they still almost came back and tied the game.

on a side note, why does it seem that when every other qb is sacked a whole bunch and gets "rattled" they may throw 1-3 ints, when jakes gets pressured and sacked he throws like 5 ints???!!
