What were you worried about based on Pre-season, and how did it turn out yesterday?

I thought we changed up the offense quite a bit.  Stewart's TD was very well designed and executed.  They used CMC as a decoy and Stewart was open and had a head of steam heading to the end zone.   And there were several missed opportunities that would have lead to a blowout.

I really don't understand people's complaints about the offense being vanilla.  We mixed up the passing game with short and medium range passes, and ran to the outside and inside.  We disguised a few plays fairly well.  And we screwed up on some plays.  It happens, especially early in the season.  In the end though, we were able to ram it down their throat.  Putting ourselves in position to run it down their throat and ensure victory is and should be the goal every week.

They literally have overturned that entire unit. Only 16 players are leftover from the entire 53 from last year.

you have to be a special kind of idiot to not know how difficult it is to be able to drive it down their throat when backed up on the 1 yard line when they are selling out against the run.

Bet me then mouth breather, if your so positive about the niners defense just put your money were your mouth is

Outside of Bowman theirs not a single proven defensive player on that team

I was worried about the secondary giving up a lot of passing yardage, but I underestimated how bad the 49ers passing offense was. And we got lucky a times, like the deep bomb that was dropped with Bradberry in coverage. Worley is scary bad even though he didn't cost us against the 49ers we still have teams on the schedule that will eat him alive.

I wasn't worried about Cam coming out of preseason, but God am I worried now. He's just not seeing the field and making his reads. It's like he's guessing where to go with the ball. Never mind the bad throws, the decision making needs to be much better at this point in his career. We could have really run the score up on the terrible 49ers, but Cam's head was just in the clouds or something. Not good. Hopefully Cam will get back into the swing of things.

Please elaborate on the throws where he isn't making his reads???

1. He checked to the Shepard touchdown play...made the right adjustment at the LOS and correct read- TD.

2. The Benjamin interception was the correct read, ball needed to be out earlier and without as much air.

3. Sure he missed a read to Olsen when he was getting pressured...still was able to keep his eyes down field while rolling out and a nice completion to McCaffrey to move the chains.

4. The Dickson miss was a poor throw but an excellent read.

5. Missed a throw to CMC downfield that was just behind him. CMC needed to settle his route in the soft spot...correct read, CMC and Cam not on same page there.

6. One missed throw over the middle was a bit high to KB but off his hands...you'd like to see KB come down with a tough catch there...again...correct read, not the best throw but still should have been brought in.

What am I missing here?

concern?  Shula

result?  meh

I liked how involved CMC was in the gameplan, it was almost like he had a separate playbook!  But I still don't like the love of the slow-developing play.  I realize it is part of the option but just see defenses reading us more quickly every time it comes up.

Oh noes not internet betz!!!!

You do know most people make betting money off the internet right? LOL

The online sports books are pretty tough to fleece, so I wouldn't mind fleecing a huddle derp, if your up to it.

Your scared of little "internet betz"? Or is it you know that our running game was utter trash so you have no confidence behind that garbage you typed.

I will say that the inability to run the ball in the first half was a little disappointing.  I am not sure if it was a case of us performing poorly or SF experiencing an improvement in its run defense.  I would guess that its probably a little of both.  But we wore them down, and in that last series, we were able to ram it down their throat, and that is a little promising.

I will hazard a guess and say that Cam's inability to complete a pass early in the game had something to do with that.

They had far and away the worst run D in the league last year, you think they are gonna be some juggernaut run D over a season with a offensive HC?

You got a paypal? how much you want to bet the niners finish with a bottom 10 defense????

Are you a new NFL fan? Last year means next to nothing right now. I don't bet on stupid crap like this.

The secondary is what concerns me the most coming out of this game.  I've seen nothing that shows me that Worley isn't the weakness for this D.  Our best hope is that the front seven gets enough pressure to force QB mistakes.

CMC has radically changed how we conduct a lot of our base offense.  If the rest of the team can pick up the slack to make the easy plays, those holes are being open.  If CMC can continue to produce and threaten, I see Stewart becoming more of an Alstott role that will punish opposing defenses in the latter part of games.
