Id like to see what cam could do with a new staff before I write him off. Plus hes here till 2019 in all likelihood.

new staff will do nothing for his health, wherein he might be damaged goods

also, qbs that don't have good footwork at struggle to read defenses after 7 years generally don't get better at it. lights dont come on in year 8.

My take on this:

we royally fugged up our first experience with a potential franchise qb.  History will look back at what could have been and not what was.

It was a complete organizational failure on so many levels:

-hiring Shula and Dorsey

-never addressing the LT spot

-allowing Cam to make idiotic decisions like playing out the year last year while hurt.  He should have been shut down, but unfortunately no one in that organization has the balls to tell Cam no

-continually drafting defensive pieces as opposed to offensive weapons.

-never giving him an adequate #2 tight end

With all that said, Cams not without blame.  His footwork hasn't improved at all since his rookie year and his decision making looks even worse this year.

my opinion is that his best days are behind him and what we have now is an inept offensive coaching staff trying to fit a square peg (Cam) into a round hole  (pocket passer).

He's coming off of a surgically repaired shoulder that hasn't healed completely.

He's not been able to practice throwing the deep ball since the surgery.

He's had his running game dialed back to almost nothing (partly because of the shoulder surgery, partly because of a reluctance to submit him to damage) which takes away his other strength and allows defensive backs to just play their man and not worry about containment.

Our game plan uses more trickery and less fundamentals of the game in an attempt to compensate.

He's gone Hollywood.

He believes he's more the chosen one more than he's the guy who worked his butt off to get there.

Time will fix the first two. Better coaching will fix the next two. Only Cam can fix the last two.

In the end, it's up to Cam whether he's washed up or not. He's going to get the time and if the coaching staff doesn't adjust the game to give him the chance to win, they will no longer be the problem. But the third pair there, well, none of the rest will matter if he doesn't get that right.

I think he can.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a colossal failure from this franchise how we could ruin potentially THE greatest dual threat QB this league has ever seen. I can't even imagine what Cam could do in a legit offense built around him and a good O-line in front of him. The man is done and it's sad. Even his attitude is different. Doesn't even look like he's enjoying it anymore. He may flash a bit this season and give everybody hope that the old Cam is back, but it will never be the same nor consistent. Fug you JR, Rivera, and Shula for ruining our only franchise QB in our history.
