I'm just curious about how much say the teams have in the decision for how the NFL determines when/where the game will be played.

I would like to think the Dolphins would petition for the game to be delayed until a later date. It's not just the players, but the entirety of the staff, coaches, trainers, water boys, cheerleaders, those great people that scan your ticket and serve you tasty tasty beer.

All those people depend on their jobs, and some of them, more so the ones who don't make much money, the stadium support staff depend on their income from the game being played, if it's not played in Miami, they won't get paid if it's in Cleveland or some other city.

A reschedule is best for them, and everyone who had planned to be in Miami for the game.  Some John Doe from asstown Flordia who likes both teams has one chance a year to go to a game and pics this one, it's close and they know (or knew) when it was going to be played and saved money to buy tickets. Now, a hurricane is coming and you won't get to.see your teams play again because your state is about it be washed away, and they moved the game up north.

Everyoneis worried about millionaires not having a break for five months....give me a break.

Uh yeah the world inherently cares more about millionaires than waterboys. I don't think they made this decision with the waterboys in mind lol. Everyone's caring about how the players feel having their bye taken away bc they're (mostly) famous football players and most people in America care about and like football. The same cannot be said for the waterboys. I would be extremely pissed off if our panthers couldn't get a week of rest bc of this.

I'm not saying it's more important than he actual lives at stake, but it's just another thing piled on top of that.

Safety first... But I would imagine there are all sorts of contractual issues with TV rights, stadium revenue, etc., that muck things up to move this a neutral site.  That being said, it's not unprecedented. In 2003, they moved a MNF game at the last minute between the Chargers and Dolphins because of wildfires in San Diego.  They moved over to play in Tempe, AZ at Sun Devil Stadium.
