No matter how they slice it...  it makes no sense.  He was well-liked and his versatility alone made him the most valuable backup QB in the league - 2nd or 3rd string.  You cut a guy that outperformed your #2, can cover kicks, and can play receiver and kept a #2 that has steadily regressed and signed a noodle armed UDFA to "develop" even though he'll never play enough for it to mean anything.  It's just dumb.

Webb is  a 31yr old 3rd string QB. I liked him too but it's not like we lost much football wise.

I am not sure if it is millennials or not, but I am pretty sure it is workplace morale and not workplace moral.

The (morale) of the story is, the NFL it tough on job security, even tougher when you never start.  He had a good run.

I heard Kaaya was on our draft board.

 

But Im not sure how high his ceiling is.. as of right now I would say he would be pretty equal to Joe Webb.. without the ability to run as a Pro and play special teams and whatever you needed him to do.

Being versatile is a great talent to have. But if you aren't very good at any of the positions you play, I'm not sure versatility matters. Webb's special teams ability was largely overblown.
