You guys are seriously predicting we're doomed because we cut a project fullback who wasn't going to play and our QB3, extended a franchise legend for a reasonable rate, held on to four running backs (two power backs and two scatbacks), and has two kickers presumably temporarily.

Meanwhile you bent over backwards to justify everything Gettleman did, from gutting our entire wide receiver corps in 2014 to cutting Josh Norman for no other reason than to prove he has a bigger d*ck. Cutting Steve Smith and treating him and others like garbage was fine, but how dare we cut Joe Webb. WTF?

Our quarterback and star linebacker, the best in the league, are healthy. We have an exciting rookie back ready to tear up the league. Our front seven looks better than ever. Our starting corner is poised for a breakout year and we actually have depth beyond rookies now. Our offensive line looks stout. Damiere Byrd finally got a shot and looks ready to contribute, something that never happened under Gettleman...

and in all this you are b*tching and moaning about the literal bottom two or three guys on our roster. You guys are pathetic. Get a grip.

Excellent post.

Thought he hit on every first rounder.

You do remember him trading away first round picks, right? (for guys like Everette Brown, no less)

Also worth remembering when we did have first rounders , we pretty frequently had high slots because the team Hurney put together the prior year team had been sh--ty. Yet even in those years, the picks after Round One were generally awful.

So all top 10 picks are hits? News to me. A majority of the picks were in the mid to late first round. He hit on all of them.

We drafted Captain in 2009. He never blew an entire draft.

Did you happen to take a look at the rest of that draft?

How about the rest of the Cam Newton draft?

The Luke Kuechly draft?

Go through the history and you'll find drafts where seven to nine or more picks were made, and only one or two were any good at all. If you wanna compound that, go back and look at who else was available when those picks were made.

Marty Hurney is absolute dog s--t as a drafter.  Spin it all you want. There is no getting around that.

Which Gettleman was doing the last 4 years.

Gettleman walked into a situation where he had a once in a generation type talent at QB entering his 3rd season and one of the best young middle linebackers in the league. He had a very solid core to work with and yet he failed to bring in a few pieces to surround the core to earn back to back winning seasons.

Do you know how pathetic that is? We have Devin f*cking Funchess as our 2nd WR. Cam carried this offense to a SB that had Philly Brown as one of the regular WR's, Philly Brown can't even make the freaking Buffalo Bills!

Now again, I don't want Hurney here but we deserve A LOT better than Dave Gettleman who always seemed content going halfway in and if we won cool, if not whatever. 2015 was special, and Gettleman's big add was a 57 year old Jared Allen? Do we need to go over what we had a WR again that year?

This team's greatest weapon is Cam Newton. This organizations goal every year should be finding the best WR's to put around him and sit back and watch. They are making it way more complicated than it has to be. And stop with the whole Gettleman and building for the future bs, the fat man just overspent on Captain Munnerlyn and signed Peppers and Mike Adams.

Great post.

there's absolutely no reason why a juggernaut team who finished 15-1 and almost won the superbowl should fall to 6-10 the following season and miss the playoffs.

Sure injuries factored in, but DG was 80% to blame for 2016

I would love to see the math here

Daryl Williams and James Bradberry. You could even argue CAP.

CAP? He has done nothing but fumble in the NFL. Bradberry is a good player, but the rest of that draft is mostly crap. DW hasn't proven anything yet.

He drafted two all-pros in the Kuechly draft. What more could you ask for?
