I'm watching the San Fran at Minnesota preseason game. Observations here as I go...

Minnesota went three and out in their first series, but didn't have a whole lot to do with the 49ers.

On second down Dalvin Cook goes in motion and knocks the ball out of Sanchez's hand. Big loss of yards. At that point it's 3rd and 22 and they pick up 19 of it.

San Francisco wasn't able to get much pressure on the QB at all in the first series.

First 49ers offensive series.

Minnesota is getting decent pressure, but Hoyer is very comfortable hitting Pierre Garcon on the quick slant. Captain Munnerlyn should be able to handle it. Minnesota sure could have used him at this game.

Hoyer looks really confident though, making quick decisions.

This play was for the Panthers to see and game plan for... No other reason to bring it out in preseason

We can probably expect the same look on Sunday but possibly an end around instead of the long ball. Anything to keep the Panthers concerned about the big play.

Man, Goodwin is a burner.

49ers offense is as advertised, a lot like Atlanta.

Don't expect a lot of sacks or pressures on Hoyer, the ball is out way too early for that aside from the occasional play action pass down field.

Overall their offense looks better than their defense. Probably not a shock.

When it comes down to it, Brian Hoyer will be the Brian Hoyer we all know and love. Average at best. He'll make good throws at times, but no way he puts together 4 solid quarters of qb play vs our D.

It may be possible in the right system for him. He hasn't had an actual offensive coordinator before has he?

Hoyer was above average in Bill Obriens system in Houston in 2015

in 11 games he threw 19 tds and 7 ints while also completeing nearly 61% of his passes.   If you extrapolate that over a 16 game season it would be nearly 28 tds and 10 interceptions.  Those numbers would suggest he can be a much better than average qb in the right system.

Judging Hoyer by his time in Cleveland is a mistake that I Hope the panthers aren't making.

    • Yeah that with the Taylor Moton clip from yesterday...These guys have felt completely hamstrung the last two weeks
    • Our receivers were right there on the field, they also watched Bryce on film, and it sounds like they're looking forward to Dalton. Xavier Legette on Andy Dalton: "He got a fine understanding of things. I like the way he throws the ball and how to position it, so I feel like we going be good... On the go balls, he knows the right timing and the right among of air... The deep ball that's something I feel I'm good at, and that's something I been working on at practice [with Andy]... I ain't talked to him [Bryce] about it [the benching] yet, but we just got to continue to play. Next man up, and it's Andy."   Diontae Johnson on Andy Dalton: "A vet who's been back there for a while and knows the game, so once you have a guy like that back there, it allows you to be yourself more... He takes a lot off our plate just by having that experience knowing what to do, getting us the right calls, knowing when the pressure is coming..."
