I thought Armah deserved a spot. Hope we can hang onto him on the PS.

Makes sense for Corn. He just missed too much time and picking up the guy from the Bills gives us a little flexibility there. I expect he'll be designated to return.

If we actually roll with two kickers... Jesus. Surely we aren't even entertaining that possibility

It's your boy Hurney. Go and look at his track record on two kickers. Than understand why.

No one is gonna pick up a 6th round pick without a defined position in the NFL. The kid is a project player, will make it to the PS.

I'd be more upset about not waiting until 4:01 to IR Elder.

And you really want a receiving TE(Dickson) blocking as a FB?

Incorrect. Derek Anderson is declining will be 35 after the season and a free agent.

We have not drafted a QB in years and would not have a viable long term backup option as Cam's backup next offseason.

Look at it as if we had drafted Kaaya with a 6th round pick this year. It's really a very wise move.

Is this where you tell me tom Brady was a 6th round pick

Here's the thing with all this Hurney bashing. Do you think that Hurney came in and told Ron Rivera that the offense needs to evolve and we don't need a FB on the roster? Or is it possible that Gettleman brought in Young for nothing off the street (like the THIRTY SEVEN other players that we just cut) and drafted Armah as a ST/PS project with the thought already existing that we didn't need a full time fullback on the roster? The reason Josh has been saying for a month that the Panthers won't carry a fullback is not because Hurney is stupid, it's because the formations they've been running in camp don't have a fullback involved with them. Young/Armah were running sprints on the sideline for almost all of the 1s/2s installs/run-throughs. This was not Hurney. This was Ron Rivera. You want the offense to evolve but you just want that to mean thousands of touchdowns to McCaffrey.

The plan was always to have Armah on Practice Squad. Perhaps they waived him today (after all practice squad rosters are basically full FYI) to avoid having him picked up by other teams. Perhaps they waived Joe Webb after seeing a young QB that they were interested in (Kaaya) get waived at 10AM yesterday. Perhaps they're putting Corn Elder on IR because he had a broken patella stress fracture which has no timetable for return. Maybe, just maybe, they know more about these situations than we do.

If you think trading a guy the Panthers picked up off the street (Kaelin Clay) who was (up until he had a monster 4th preseason game against all backups) going to struggle to make the practice squad into anything valuable, let alone a guy who is going to contribute at corner is anything less than fantastic, you don't understand how this works.

The two kicker thing I don't understand, though. That's stupid.

Edit: For the record I am NOT a Hurney for long term GM fan. That joke yesterday went over most of your heads.

I mean I haven't been overly concerned with anything he's really done up until this point. I thought we were making the transition to two QBs and were hours away from trading a Kicker.

But now we risk exposing a draft pick to being scooped while still having 3 QBs and 2 Ks on the active roster?

Lol if we go into the season with either of those things we've made a mistake, much more so if it costs us a draft pick.

6th/7th round draft picks aren't worth much, usually their ceiling is playing on ST or being okay 3rd string players. Hopefully we can get a pick for one of the Ks soon and it will be a moot point. No idea why we are carrying 3 QBs though.

I could sort of understand it back before the moved the kickoff up spot up 5 yards. Now pretty much any NFL kicker can put the ball through the endzone or at least deep into the endzone. Lots of teams probably actually prefer putting the ball deep into the endzone and tempt the returner to give it a shot now that touchbacks come out the the 25. There's just no need for a big legged kickoff specialist anymore.

Plus, hell it's Gano. Would it be a surprise to anyone if he Kasay'd one out of bounds in a crucial moment?

I will bash Hurney until he is back to radio.

And all of those perhaps are poor excuses. Sorry man. I like you and your posts. But Hurney has no fuging clue what he's doing. He didn't, and he won't. It's simple.

Everyone acts like Hurney is going on some wild personnel moves here. He's not. Hurney doesn't make the decision to not use a FB - the coaching staff does.

Furthermore, attacking a guy who just took over the job at the beginning training camp because the last guy wasnt cutting it. Why the fug would hurney have a plan?  This sounds like coaching staff moves. Hurney is just helping manage the team, not changing it to his liking after month. Hurney haters need to go calm down in the corner, the man has done nothing bad since he has been back to warrant all this whining.

You really think this is Hurney not knowing what he's doing? Man, that's just plain wrong. But....I know it's more fun to overreact than critically think. So, enjoy!

I get it. I sure as hell didnt want Hurney back in any way, shape or form. But I'm not gonna bash the guy for no reason. So far, he hasnt done anything spectacularly awful, but it's Hurney and there's plenty of time on the clock...
