In theory, yes, but in practice no. This wasn't 2003 Stephen Davis. He was averaging 3 yards a carry on the season, and had a total of 20 carries for 62 yards in his last four games of the season before his knee started to swell up pretty badly. He had a five-game stretch earlier in the season where he never hit 3 yards a carry despite double-digit carries. He was pretty terrible all year, and with Foster taking over and Goings being the backup coming off of an absurdly competent 2004 season, we looked pretty set. Nobody could have anticipated we'd lose Foster and Goings in the playoffs. Frankly Davis wouldn't have helped much, if any, against Seattle. We were just too beat up as a team.

Yeah Davis would have helped. Seattle essentially triple teamed Smitty as our RB was Jamal Robertson. I guess we needed those guys that didn't get a jersey Sundays more than stashing Davis to wait and see in the long run. Me, I'd like to have seen what Davis could have done against Seattle with a few weeks rest.

Davis was done... He couldn't run anymore..

What are you not understanding?? He was end of career hurt.. He had nothing left to give..

Putting him out there would have been reason for a homicide case...lol

Davis would not have warranted any additional coverage. He was playing pretty badly even before the injury, after it wouldn't have been useful at all. He was done.

Sorry, didn't know you were a doctor in the Clubhouse, my bad. Davis played part time in 15 games the following year for STL, averaged 4.4 YPC.

We'll never know what effect he might have had.

I don't have to be a doctor to see he was limping noticebly, lost all burst and had career ending back and knee surgery after the season...

You do  know he never played again right???

My bad your right.. He tried 1 more season and ended up on the bench 40 carries for 177 yards in a season is pretty forgettable..

Okay it's Hurney fault he didn't push davis out there in a wheel chair when both of his RB were lost due to freak injuries in a week span..lol

10 other NFL teams do not have a FB on their roster today.

Most hardcore NFL fans couldn't name you the starting FB of the last 7 super bowl winners. The FB position is obsolete, and we had our best offense without using a true FB

Lets get some new offensive weapons. Some guys that can really break the big one. A new running back that can take it to the house on any run. Sound good?

Ok, one small caveat though... much of this new improved offense will hinge on Ed Dickson.

Everyone good? Good.

Let's go!

I hope we dont open like the UNC Tarheels.. I bought tickets and went to see them to beat Cal instead they beat themselves with dumb penalties and lost coverage on D! Well their QB situation was unique.. I was no  happy/impressed with Harris.. Suratt showed potential.. but now with 2 QB's in Panther land..if Cam is not healthy we have to rely on an old noodle arm that might last 2 quarters!! Not happy with the Joe Web release.. Hurney just shows his old dog mentality..Shows privilege to Vets vs talent even though they both had positive/neg in preseason but look at the o-line they had....just for the record i am pissed we let Webb and Clay go.. bothe friggin Bills.. I loved Clay in preseason!!.. I am done rantin for now!

at least it's not this bad. Bills fan better pray nothing happens to McCoy.  Imagine Stew or CMC getting hurt and having Tolbert as your featured RB.

McCoy has been out injured both years he's been with Buffalo. It's not a bet I'd take that he plays all 16 games. Maybe they'll sign a vet. Wow.
