Old and still the best player in the league...

Just like a QB can't a FB develop on PS as well??

Old and more likely to get hurt. Age wins 10/10 times

Its not about full back it's about a spot that could go to players that rotate, and come in and out of the game based on need. To me I'd rather have a extra db, lb, Oline, or dline player than a 3rd qb

To play multiple positions...I saw good hands ,quick feet and some good blocks...he can play Fb,Te,STeams...he also gas the it factor...so any combo of those for traits puts him ahead Dickson...Resse and Rathman don't factor into it..

What?? You saw like 1 or 2 catches in game action and now he has good hands and quick feet ???... hahahaha. How many special team tackles did he have?... Did he play with the starting group?.. How many snaps dod he get in preseason?. don't google none of this poo.. Tell me what you actually saw... just stop..

fug Hurney what a retard. Keeping two kickers and waiving Armah and making it so Corn can't come back if we need him. Such a dumbass.

THIS!!!!!

Hurney loses/risks a sixth round pick trying to get a 2019 seventh.  He is a mega-idiot.

Scouts provide data.

GM's take data and make decisions.

Very possible one GM could make great decisions and another terrible decisions based on the same data.

All GMs make good AND bad decisions. I can't believe we are going to just assume everything that Hurney does is terrible. And I'm not Team Hurney.

Historically Hurney whiffs much more than he hits, and it isn't close.

Hurney does not get a clean slate. He picks up where he left off. So far.... not good.

Here's the thing with all this Hurney bashing. Do you think that Hurney came in and told Ron Rivera that the offense needs to evolve and we don't need a FB on the roster? Or is it possible that Gettleman brought in Young for nothing off the street (like the THIRTY SEVEN other players that we just cut) and drafted Armah as a ST/PS project with the thought already existing that we didn't need a full time fullback on the roster? The reason Josh has been saying for a month that the Panthers won't carry a fullback is not because Hurney is stupid, it's because the formations they've been running in camp don't have a fullback involved with them. Young/Armah were running sprints on the sideline for almost all of the 1s/2s installs/run-throughs. This was not Hurney. This was Ron Rivera. You want the offense to evolve but you just want that to mean thousands of touchdowns to McCaffrey.

The plan was always to have Armah on Practice Squad. Perhaps they waived him today (after all practice squad rosters are basically full FYI) to avoid having him picked up by other teams. Perhaps they waived Joe Webb after seeing a young QB that they were interested in (Kaaya) get waived at 10AM yesterday. Perhaps they're putting Corn Elder on IR because he had a broken patella stress fracture which has no timetable for return. Maybe, just maybe, they know more about these situations than we do.

If you think trading a guy the Panthers picked up off the street (Kaelin Clay) who was (up until he had a monster 4th preseason game against all backups) going to struggle to make the practice squad into anything valuable, let alone a guy who is going to contribute at corner is anything less than fantastic, you don't understand how this works.

The two kicker thing I don't understand, though. That's stupid.

Edit: For the record I am NOT a Hurney for long term GM fan. That joke yesterday went over most of your heads.

My perspective on Hurney:

No, he isn't a complete moron. No, he isn't utterly devoid of football knowledge. And no, not every move he makes is a glaring mistake.

The problem is just that overall, he isn't good enough a GM to build a consistent winner.

Is he smarter and better qualified than us for his job than any of us? Sure he is. That doesn't mean anything, though. If that were all it took to win, the job would be a breeze.

Unfortunately, what Hurney's job really requires for success is that he be better, smarter and wiser than the other general managers in the NFL.

Based on past experience, there may be NFL GMs who are worse at their jobs than Hurney, but I couldn't name one.

People that are the most upset now I think are probably longtime fans who were here for the last Hurney era.  Basically, we've seen this movie before. We know how it ends.

So no, not everything that's happening right now is an absolute disaster.

But the outlook for the future?

I agree with RoaringRiot on this one.  It's not just the scouts who are giving their input either. I'm sure the coaches are involved in these decisions too. I don't want Hurney anywhere near that draft room but these are bottom of the roster decisions. Also, there will not be 3 QB's and 2 kickers on the roster next Sunday. If there is, then that will be the time to freak out.
