If he's not better than Colin Jones, he probably shouldn't on the roster.

Key word here?  Versatile.  That is what Ward was not.  We would have had 3 SS only--1 FS.  This guy can play both

I wish they put more emphasis on a safety that will knock a motherfuger out coming across the middle.. I miss the minter, mitchell type safeties in this defense..

You do not keep players that show zero promise of being a core player just to fill out a roster. You let them go and bring in another body in hopes of finding a gem. If you hold on to mediocre, then your depth will be mediocre.

Chris Scott was a major example of that. The roster was filled out with mediocre depth and the same dead weight year after year since 2013. This is what is needed to fill out a roster. Trading out a known mediocre player for an unknown player with potential is the way to manage the bottom of the roster.
