I don't know why there is so much talk about him coming here. I've not seen anywhere showing much interest. Also seen the Cowboys and Steelers are the favorites. I guess just another thread to go on for 30 pages and get everyone disappointed.

Well I think he would be an upgrade over Mike Adams but he really regressed last season and frankly, I'd be fine if we did not sign him.

I'm not holding my breath here. If another team offers him more money, fine no big deal. We need depth at safety and not necessarily a starter.

If you'd rather have hurney drafting than Gettleman, you are out of your mind. I really hope that's not what you're saying

Gettleman is a better talent evaluator than Hurney no doubt. The problem with Gettleman is that he was too reliant on his talent evaluations and thought he could just discount shop at key positions, and yes his eye for talent and blueprint may have been right in the long term. But the mentality of the owner and the veteran locker room presence is all in to win now, so Gettlemans stubborn frugality and to do things his way rubbed people the wrong way.

Hurney on the other hand in his first stint tried to employ the Gettleman strategy but wasn't as good at scouting talent so it failed miserably,  he depended too much on home grown draft picks that didn't pan out. And when he did sign free agents it was meh signings, like rolling out the corpse of Keyshawn Johnson when the team needed obvious help at WR opposite Steve Smith. Hopefully if he is a wise man he's learned from past mistakes and is a better GM now than he was then.

The teams that are in the hunt for the Super Bowl year in year out don't just it on their laurels, as soon as the cut deadline hit the Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks, are on the phones wheeling and dealing and not for future comp picks but for known players who they feel are going to help them win now.  `
