Yes, but the trade gives us a pick later and frees a roster spot.   Byrd is decent depth behind Samuel--I doubt both Byrd and/or Clay would have had a jersey on Sundays.

Look at the stats. CMC didn't return that much in college. When he did, he didn't reach 10 last year and didn't even get to 9 the year before. Clay got almost 11 in Baltimore and 15 in college. He was also over 10 this preseason.  Clay was our best returner.
