Yet another display of ignorance by people that aren't bothered by pesky little things like facts.

I asked someone in another thread if Lee's presence during the second half of the season last year would have resulted in a win rather than a loss...if there were any facts to support that argument.  Did we decline as a team when Lee went out?  Was there an obvious difference?  If so, show me those facts.  Did our opponents starting field position change much?  If so, make sure to exclude things such as penalties, turnovers, etc.  look at it solely from a punting standpoint.

Id argue that a piss poor LT and secondary were much bigger issues and resulted in far more losses.

Again.  Facts.  Please.

For those who find facts inconvenient, I guess I have to do their work for them.

After opening free agency with a rare shopping spree, the Carolina Panthers are now trying to free up some cash. That process began with punter Andy Lee, who according to the NFLPA’s salary report, has taken a pay cut.

EBX6853-2.jpgThrough a restructuring of the final two years of his contract, Lee’s $3.43 million (2017) and $4.13 million (2018) base salary was turned into $1.0 plus bonuses and $1.1 plus bonuses.

Without getting into the minutia of the restructure, Lee, who missed seven games last season with a hamstring injury, gave back more than $2 million over the final two years of his contract. And the Panthers, who sent Cleveland a 2018 fourth-round pick for Lee shortly before the start of last season, gained some cap room.

According to Over the Cap, Carolina added $808,000 in space for 2017 and $1.93 million for 2018.

Before the restructure, the Panthers could have released Lee and saved a two-year total of $7.57 million. But now the three-time Pro Bowler is pretty much guaranteed to make the 2017 roster, even though the Panthers gave Michael Palardy, who finished 2016 in place of Lee, a one-year tender of $540,000.

In other words, because of the restructure, cutting Andy Lee (a MUCH better punter than the horrible Palardy) saves us... how much again?  JACK.  *That's* how much.  The cost of Andy Lee was totally cooked into the recipe already.

I'm not even talking about the money here man...99% of my posts in this thread have been to diffuse the jumpers who said our season is basically over now that Palardy is our punter.  So the cap savings aren't there.  Regardless, id rather invest in our future at the position.

WTF?

So you're not the one that said this:

he did not add value as an older punter making 4 million a year

Investing in one of the worst punters in the league from the 2016 season.  SOUNDS GREAT!
