The Browns Have Chosen Their Rookie Kicker Zane Gonzalez Over The Vet Cody Parkey

Seriously. I never got the "but do you really want to put in a rookie kicker" when literally our "veteran" kicker gives us heart attacks each week when he kicks.

I mean would you rather have the sure bust that's more expensive, or would you rather start with a guy who likely isn't any worse and has potential to get better for cheap?

It should be a no brainer, but Ron gonna Ron.

He is better than Gano.

He has missed only 10 FG's in his 3 years in the league (55/65)

Gano missed 8 FG's last year alone and has missed 20 in the last 3 years (89/109)

The only statistic I paid attention to was that he has been on 3 diff teams in 3 years... that is not a good sign.. does he suck at game winning FGs or something??

Parkey misses more from 40-49 yards than Gano does, 60% for his  career while Gano is nearly 80%.  Ironically, Parkey is 5-5 from 50 plus.  And Parkey is a little bit better at the shorter ones, but he has a very small sample size.  Parkey appears to be at best, a lateral move.

Parkey was a Pro Bowler, All-Rookie, and set a record for rookie scoring in 2014.  In 2015 he severely injured his groin and the Eagles replaced him and he's been fighting for a job ever since.

Oh, and he was also on the 2010 Auburn BCS Championship team with Cam (though he wasn't the starting kicker, I think he was a redshirt freshman or something).

KK Short is a lateral move at this point.  This guy and any others that have kicked at the high school and above levels are an upgrade to the tangible and intangible value of this football team than GG right now.
