How often did he play outside in Minny? They had Rhodes and that fossil in Newman. CAN he play outside? Sure. Should he play outside? Nope.

Munnerlyn is a nickel. 

 

I don't know how they used him in Minnesota, but I can tell you he played on the outside more often than not in Carolina. It kept him from being exposed on option routes. 

Playing nickel doesn't mean you play in slot all the time. Captain was better on the outside than the slot, so the coaches at the time played to his strengths. It has nothing to do with the talent around him.

I disagree, I think Munnerlyn is MUCH better in the slot than the outside but obviously that's just my opinion and you have yours. 

Munnerlyn has good ball skills and having him float around inside gives him more of a chance to make a play on the ball on most plays. 

Munnerlyn doesn't have great deep speed either and is just better suited for the quick shorter routes in the slot.

Im pretty sure the Vikes kept in the slot majority of time with Newman and Rhodes on the outside

As soon as Captain goes to the outside the huddle is going to start the bash captain campaign. I keep saying this, it's not his fault he's often forced to the outside because everyone else around him sucks.
