CAP vs Fozzy - Pick your poison...

I have never gotten the love for fozzy had one good play that was memorable  his whole time.  If he was such a good back we would not need CMC.. CAPs only issue is not having breakaway speed but most powerbacks don't.  Special teams should not be the reason he stays especially since one special team role will be removed..I just dont think he should be ahead of CAP. We need to see what he can do with more carries.

A Running backs primary purpose is to RUN the ball.. what's the real value of fozzys receiving/st play? EASILY REPLACEABLE & no bearings in the wins/losses column..

Agree with those picking Cap over Fozzy. We know that we will need a backup for Stew and that Curtis could back up CMC. Also agree that Hurney will listen to Ron and the coaches who work with the players every day and have the best idea what they need. When the GM ignores the coaches and think they know better you end up with talent that doesn't match the coaching needs. Like we had at O line for years and the secondary last year.

I've been saying it will be Fozzy for a long time, but CAP has made his case in the rushing department.

I'd like to keep both, but if we can only take one, I think and hope it will be Fozzy.

I agree with you mostly.  The job of the GM is to find the talent a coach needs to run his scheme.  Where I'm slightly in disagreement is when a coach sucks at talent evaluation then the GM will sometimes have to override the coach when it comes to talent selection.  Assuming the GM is better than the coach at it.  The current situation doesn't give me confidence in either the coach or acting GM to make the right decision.

What you said might be accurate if Ron and his staff sucked at talent management but they don't. How many guys over the years have been cut here and went on to be great elsewhere? Less than a handful in the last 5;years maybe. Now how many guys have come here as JAGs, UDFAs and reclamation projects and had success here? Way more than a handful.  The whole Ron can't manage talent thinking comes from posters who think it is easy to just plug in rookies and Jags into starting roles with no consequences. Ron and the coaching staff have a history of playing and developing talent at a much higher rate than most other teams. What he won't do is put in a rookie or JAG until he is convinced they are ready to start and are a clear upgrade to a veteran with experience in the league.

I never said it was easy.  Don't get it twisted.  I said he sucks at chosing who should stay and who should play for the most part.  Dave was the equalizer to keep Ron from himself.   Dave had his faults but he knew how to build a roster.  Hurney? Not so much.

Fozzy $1.35 CAP savings $850,000

And I think you are way off base. You don't get coach of the year 2 of your last 5 years not being able to make good personnel decisions and who to play or sit. And let's be clear, Gettleman has had more than his share of misses and poor decisions. I don't hold him in better stead than Rivera. Hurney 1.0 had issues for sure. But Hurney 2.0 has yet to screw up. His few moves so far have been solid.
