Gano Misses Another

I've just seen enough of Gano missing key kicks in games. Gotta give someone else a chance. We gave Gano a chance to the "the guy" in preseason this year and he Gano'd it up.

And that's fine but just say that and stop trying to convience us that Butker is good or that Ron never wanted a competition. Just say you want Gano out. I do too.

I do want Gano out. Based on what Gano has done in games vs. what Butker has done in games, yes dating back to college. All you can do is make the most of your attempts and Butker did that this preseason.

I'm not saying that Butker is a slam dunk great NFL kicker. Definitely not. I'm just saying that I have more confidence in that guy making a kick in a key game situation than I do Gano. Hell, I'd rather just throw up a hail mary than have Gano attempt a long game winner at this point. Probably better odds.

He has the yips bad. You cannot trust him in pressure situations anymore, need new blood in there regardless if it's a rookie.

ill never forget Rick ankiel and his yips, switching positions and becoming such a badass outfielder. One of the few yips success stories I've ever heard.

It's a mind game, gano is fuged.

Gano was pretty solid for us until last season. We brought in a little bit of competition for him in the offseason and he crumbled even further.

If we go into the season with him as our kicker, we're pretty much admitting that we're okay with likely losing a couple of games due to kicking woes.

Yeah kicker is not a position to be sentimental over. It's one guy and too important.

Why shouldn't he be considered good? He's made every kick presented him in the preseason. He made both field goals (one 46 yards, one 51 yards). And he's made all his extra points. Why does he have to look like a superstar in practice? Why can't he use practice to try making small changes to his form, etc?

Now I haven't been to training camp this year (and I know you have), so I haven't seen him. Maybe he's missed 60+ percent of his kicks in the training camp. Maybe he's been awful from 40 yards in during training camp. If that's the case, excuse everything I've said. If not, isn't practice the place where you're supposed to be able to miss kicks? Maybe he's missed in practices because he's taking chances (as a way to improve himself) that he doesn't take in games. Idk. I'm just spitballing, because like I've said, he hasn't had a misstep during a game.

Meh.  He sucks.  The league average % last year was 84%.  He's only done better than that once, in 2013.
