I would never say never on it tracking more west. While there is a high steering system that should force it east it is all about timing.  Katrina wasn't supposed to go far west either. It is very hard to model a hurricane track do to different verables.

True but high pressure system in bermudas is the only thing that keep pushing it West.  It about to end.

Looks like Florida, GA, SC and NC will all get hammered.  The eye projected to pass just west of Charlotte with top wind gusts of 65mph.  Miami, Jacksonville and Atlanta better prepare themselves.

Bad news...  Irma projected to stall over Charlotte and West Carolinas for over 24 hours.  So Charlotte will see downpours from Saturday to Wednesday.

Hmm...could be a bad one flood wise.

The latest models destroy Florida. The tracks keep pushing west with each run. Not good for central Carolinas since the eastern part of the storm would likely hit, which is the strongest part of the storm and has the added threat of tornadoes.

I had planned a pickup day on a small river near Rocky Mount for this coming Saturday, but I'm starting to wonder if that's gonna be a wash

edit: pun not intended

You should be fine on Saturday. Unless the storm speeds up, there wouldn't be rain until late Sunday or early Monday at the earliest.
