Hugo came into Charleston as a Cat 4, Irma will be down to a Cat 1 by Charleston, so should be much less severe once it hits Charlotte

yeah because of a high pressure system and cold air coming out of the north.  almost seems choreographed.

nah...

Irma will still be a cat 3 maybe cat4 when it hit Charleston. Winds in Charlotte will be 35 to 50 mph.

I thought it was kind of funny at first that my dad said he's not leaving. But he really isn't leaving. He's saying he sticking around to help people. He's a good guy but I'm seriously worried about him. He lives 100ft from the water in Daytona Beach.

Should be dropped to a category 4 or 3 by then. Should be able to ride it out if so. Huge difference between a 4 and a 5.

Understand your worries but think the latest track will be the final track which is actually goid for him.  He will be west if the eye and won't get the worst if it.

Also Jeremy is right should be a cat 3 or 4 by then.

Totally depends on if it pulls a DWill and grunts it's way into the backs of blockers, or pulls a CMC, and bounces to the outside.

If it slams full on into FL, it will lose a lot of steam, but if it jumps back out and hits the gulfstream again, it can pick up where it left off.

Best case, it's a 1/2 by the time it makes landfall in SC/NC...worst case, it builds back up to a high 3, and makes landfall between Hilton Head and Charleston, and heads into CLT.  That would likely cause the most damage, and loss of power.

I'm guessing that ILM is going to get a pretty good taste of it before it's all said and done.
