The Panthers don't even show interest. You can at-least show interest and willingness to negotiate.

SS is far from the most premium position on the field and most teams have an option at this point they feel comfortable.  We have ONE old man...that no one else wanted.  This must happen.

For all the crap the guys gets for the Jerry-stamped extensions, he is the guy that got Greg Olsen for a 3rd lol.  I'd love for him to pull this off.

He's also the guy who traded up for Everette Brown, traded the #33 pick for Armanti Edwards and tried to trade up for Jimmy Clausen.

The Olsen trade reflects more on the Bears than on Hurney. And when you're in the job that long you're going to have at least a few hits. Hurney had 3-5 misses (many very bad misses like your examples) for every hit. Most of his hits are 1st round picks which is clearly his strong suit. Hell I'd hire just as a draft advisor for the first round. But to manage the cap and draft after the first? Mistake.

But that was before he got put in time out so he could learn how to be a good GM.  Your point is completely lost on those that weren't around to witness it.

The more I replay the stupid ass decision by JR to fire Gman and hire Hurney back, the more irritated I get. Godammit, WHY TF did we have to hire Hurney back? This franchise was finally moving in the right direction. Ugh.

Yep. This is seriously the type of move that can make the difference between just being good and being a legit Super Bowl contender.

I was fine wth the Adams signing at the time but now that there's a better option available we should definitely be interested especially given how Adams has looked. Father Time is undefeated. Everyone gets old. Adams has held him off longer than most, but he looks like he's wearing cement boots out there.

Exactly. This team seems to be allergic to moves that could potentially put us over the top. We constantly go by the "we're fine" status quo instead of taking SOME chances to make us into LEGIT superbowl contenders. Time is running out on this once in a lifetime window of having two HOF players on both sides of the ball, make some damn moves.

Agree completely, GMan built a contender and gets canned.  Bringing back Hurney is such a weak move I cant even believe it.  What a joke.

Hopefully he's not going forward!!  But he has ONE chance to put his seal on the 2017 Panthers Championship Ring-sign TJ WARD!!!!

Gettleman should at least have had 1 more season to operate after a SB 15-1 year. Too many injuries and missed kicks last season none of which were his fault.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
