I highly doubt they just release Dorsett and even if they do he's got to make it to us on waivers.

He'd be perfect for our Ginn role. I know Ginn isn't popular on here but we'll miss his ability to stretch the field this year. Samuel is more of a short route intermediate guy at the moment. But even if Samuel can be a deep threat immediately, adding Dorsett isn't going to hurt.

There's a few deep routes Dorsett has a step but had to wait for the ball. We missed Ginn in 2014 and as it stands right now I feel like we could be in for the same this year. It's not even Ginn himself it's just his speed and ability to stretch the field. Use Cam's arm strength and go get Dorsett.

And yes there are definitely things Dorsett needs to clean up. There's a reason why he's available but there's also the whole "knowing your players strengths" and Dorsett's strength is similar to Ginn's which is all we need.

Pretty dumb assessment when both Samuel, Byrd, and Clay have speed and catch the ball better.

Pretty dumb to think that just because a guy has 4.3 speed he can replace Ginn.

There's lots of guys out there with 4.3 speed not in the NFL

Signed Underwood in 14 to be our speed guy, how'd that work out

Last time I checked he wasn't burning the world down in NO. Samuel will definitely replace him and Byrd has a good chance.

What the hell does Ginn's play in NO so far have to do with any of this? We need a deep threat period. Samuel hasn't proved anything yet. Samuel is a better short to intermediate route guy, we need a strictly deep threat guy like a Dorsett/Ginn type

You really don't get that the 2017 Panthers have much more speed than the 2014 Panthers. Dorsett suck maybe even worse than Ginn who was 50/50 on any ball. We have 2 better route runners in Samuel and CMC who can stretch the field on top of guys like Byrd and Clay who can run straight lines like Ginn and Dorsett would. It would be STUPID to trade for him.

You can't sit here and say Samuel is a better route runner than Dorsett. You realize Samuel is very very raw as a WR right? Of course you don't...

You keep bringing up Clay when in reality he's likely going to get cut. I don't expect CMC to be running many go routes either...

Just forget it, you don't quite understand the meaning and purpose of a deep threat.

You do realize Samuel took most of his snaps as WR right? Or we had a write up on the huddle on how good at route running he really was right? Of course you don't.  Just like you don't understand how I'm owning your ass the more you type. Better yet I'm willing to bet barring any major injuries that Samuel has more receiving yards than Dorsett at the end of this year no matter what team he ends up with.

This is why this board just isn't very good anymore. Someone like you who doesn't have a hot clue about anything comes in guns blazing with info he got FROM THE HUDDLE!

Im well aware of where Samuel lined up his last year in college. Having watched 49 minutes worth and then some of his college stuff I think I have a pretty good idea of what he is capable of at the moment.

Samuel is a VERY RAW overall prospect, is the athletic ability there? Yes but he needs time. How you took anything Saca has wrote and turned it into "how good of a route runner he really is" says more about your lack of reading comprehension skills than anything. I don't always agree with Saca but I'm willing to bet even he thinks Samuel is still very raw with potential.

Maybe you should worry about your lack of knowledge and overall intelligence before you worry about "owning" anyone.

And this

Is why the huddle is awesome and your bull doesn't fly here.

Other than some Saca fluff which he knows he is guilty of there's nothing in there that disputes what I'm saying.

Keep making excuses. How about this I bet you that Samuel has less drops, more receiving yards, and more TDs than Dorsett at the end of the year barring any major injuries to either player. Who wins owes the other pie and a apology. Game?

Curtis is a bit raw as a route runner

Which is ALL I'm saying. I also said having BOTH Dorsett and Samuel wouldn't even be a bad thing. This isn't a Samuel vs Dorsett thing for me, this is a we need a deep threat type clear out guy and I rather just send Dorsett down the field in that role than Samuel because Samuel is better in the short/intermediate game than Dorsett.

For me it's having Dorsett out there instead of Funchess not Samuel

    • I mean it's not even like this was his worst game of the season... I'm not done with him by any means but this feels more the norm for him than the exception:/
    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
