Why Deep To Moose

Jake can throw it deep; but can he throw it deep accurately is another question. I've seen him overthrow plenty of passes to Steve Smith even last year..so I don't think his arm is a wet noodle just yet.

I think with some of the throws he tries to get too cute and rely too much on smith/moose's ability to make the grab..when he should just be throwing it to an open TE/RB..

This right here is why we cant be a good team. We have Moore who is a speed guy that can really burn WRs and we choose to throw it to a player that really is only effective over the middle. So what if Moore cant block as well as Moose lets atleast try to be effective in the passing game if were are gonna throw it 70% of the time.

forget 3 WR sets...you have 6 good receiving options, spread the ball to them.

smith, moose, williams, stewart, rosario, king. those guys are on the field most the time anyway, feed it to them. just spread that ball around to them earlier.

when hoover's back in, get him involved as a receiver more. they've got goodson, throw him in the mix.

just get more receiving options involved.

That just makes way too much since for Fox and Co to try. I think if we force some some balls to Moose and Smith and keep using the smoke route its bound to work on someone right?

I would call King or Moose that good of options in the grand scheme of things.....base case scenario you have Smith, a RB and Rosario on the field and threw options.

Hell, it seems like all of our passing routes take 5 seconds to run. I do agree with you on your point, sending Smitty deep would draw a safety over the top and open up some underneath stuff. Davidson should be DC, he has shut down the run game and Smitty for 3 weeks straight.

Thank you.

As Ross Perot said, 'It's simple'.

They need 10 yard increments and why everything has to be 15 yards or greater is just beyond me.

The longer route, the more time is required. Not astro-physics.

See previous threads on using TEs and RBs.

Of course, john doesn't believe in high quality TEs or Safeties...but, we have known this for years.

I'm not sure Jake can make that throw anymore since the surgery. It looks to me that the long throws are underthrown. Jake can still throw the ball but Smitty's big gainers were usually from his personal ability and not anything Jake does. Moose is a good fit for our offense but it is time to find out if D Jarrett can be the replacement that will eventually be required. I think we need to play more like we did last year and run first and use the pass to keep the defense honest. This approach should help the defense stay fresh.
