Cox is actually a guy that may be poached if put out there.

Some of us have been more than a little impressed by Bryan Cox Jr. Max Henson wrote a short piece portraying where Bryan Cox's head is at, and also what Rivera is thinking in reference to the rookie's progress.

"The young man has got some ability - he's still got some growing to do - but he most certainly has caught our eye and shown his improvement every week."

Rivera has left the door open for Cox to come on in if he shows well on Thursday.

"Thursday is very important, not just for him, but for a number of our young guys."

As a UDFA, Cox signed here because he wanted to work with Eric Washington.

"Because Eric Washington is the best D-line coach in the league," Cox said when asked why he joined Carolina. "My pops even said that. He said he thinks I can improve under him."

How surprising? Not really. This is but another instance of a player wanting to come here because of a coach (e.g. Christian McCaffey, Matt Kalil).

Anyway, Cox is really taking advantage of his situation, and he wholeheartedly believes his work has been enough to let the Panthers or another team know that he is NFL worthy.

"It's either going to be good enough for this ball club or hopefully another one."

If Cox makes it that could be nice.  Him and Hall learning behind Addison, CJ, and Peppers would be huge.  If only Horton could kindly step out of the way.

Believe me, I could see why we'd keep Horton. He's a severly underrated run stopper. The thing is though, we have cut him before (only to re-sign him of course), twice. At some point, you have to ask yourself is keeping him so important enough to risk putting a potential legitimate pass rusher on waivers to be poached.

I've posted this on a couple of other threads before, but going into the college season, Cox was rated a top 100 player.  I don't know what caused him not to get drafted after his senior year, but his father was a pro bowl linebacker.

Hope he does well Thursday.

I remember his father well. I did not like him. I like the son though. I think he's clearly ahead of Hall right now.
