Those of you worried about our pass rush, consider this

I know some of you are still worried about our pass rush, but I'm not. A recent article by Bill Voth gives a couple of interesting facts.

"Now, with five of the franchise's top nine all-time sack leaders on the roster and healthy heading into a new year, linebacker Thomas Davis predicts big things in 2017."

"Combine the future Hall of Famer with Charles Johnson, Mario Addison, Davis and Kawann Short, and you get 26.2 percent of Carolina's 844.0 all-time sacks. And you really can't blame Davis for being so confident."

 

All some of you seem to see is age as it pertains to our O-line, but like TD, I simply think the DL consists of a "special" bunch of guys. I do see the age of our DL, but I see it more as like in a fine wine.

They're going to make some things happen for Davis and the LBs, and the  DBs as well.

I don't know about you, but I thought our DTs took a major step up over the offseason. From KK Short to Lotulelei, both guys are playing at another level in preseason. 

With that being said, expect the edge pressure to be on and ready with our guys pushing through the middle disrupting and forcing QBs right into our edge's own hands. There's no doubt in my mind our pass rush can be scary special.

The Browns are looking for WR trade targets.  They'd probably take Funchess for Nate Orchard straight up.  Taken in the same round only picks away.  But they already have Garrett, Ogbah, Nassib, and Tyrone Holmes.  Just throwing that out there.

It'd probably take more than that.  Maybe Funchess and a 2019 3rd for Haden.  Even still, unless they whack salary I say no go.  I don't want to lose Star or Norwell for Haden.  If they eat salary then it's not inconceivable.  But I think they're gonna give Worley a legit chance first.

I know they're getting a little old but I thought that our Dline has been dominant this preseason. Even the practice squad guys have been disruptive I thought.

Why? Because of Age? Because the only DEs we have that're over 29 years of age are CJ and Pep, and Pep hasn't missed a game since 2007.

I mean.. you pretty much answered your own question. our starting DEs are old. Father time is undefeated. Hope they are able to play all the way to the super bowl, but you never know

All I will say right now is I absolutely love the fact that Addison is flying under the radar. He's going to take a huge step forward and be a monster. Not sure he'll ever be a total complete every down player but playing like 75% of the snaps, only coming out on some anticipated run plays (goal line, etc. when we could have Star, KK, CJ and Butler in for instance--all four of which are better run stoppers than Addison, and likely always will be even with Addison's improvements). Really excited for him and of course Pep coming in as a situational pass rusher.

i wasn't aware people were worried about our pass rush.  they absolutely should not be.  like any team, we have problems, but getting to the quarterback will not be one of them this year.

I don' think there are many teams that have the quality in depth as our DL.  Injuries can hurt any team but with the rotation we will have we should be able to keep everyone healthy and happy with playing time.

I think our defense is not perfect but I think when the real bullets start to fly.  Our defense will be up to the task and be as dominate as we believe it can be.
