Get poo on troll. We selected Samuel in part because he is a deep threat. You're the fool if you've watched Samuel play for a few years and don't think he's a deep threat.

Someone who doesn't watch college football....

LOL

Samuel probably caught 2 fly routes his entire 3 year career in college

Come on goody there's go routes he posted. A deep threat is somebody who simply is a threat to beat you deep, which Samuel definitely is

While having a deep threat is nice, the Panthers problem is getting our receivers to separate between 7-15 yards

He posted "one" fly route coming from the slot, lol

Do you want me to post who was OSU real deep threat?

Agree. I think a healthy dose of snaps in the Pittsburgh game should help get him much further along.  Don't want to go too fast too soon but the preseason game 4 is an excellent way to transition.

Couldn't agree more. He doesn't need a extensive play time, but he needs to keep moving and get over the nerves that are inevitable for rookies in their NFL debut. Some short plays will help keep him loose and help him get the feel & pace that he's missed by being on the sidelines.

Like I said 2 fly routes his entire college career and one from the slot, how exactly is that a deep threat??????

Any play with a guy catching the ball 20+ yards down the field is known as a deep play. Routes don't determine whether or not a play is classified as "deep." Curtis Samuel had plenty of times he ran a route - whether slant or whatnot - where he caught the ball 20+ yards down the field.

So by definition, he's a deep threat due to his large sample size of catching balls 20+ yards down the field.

Wrong again, Kelvin has a ton of catches more than 20 yards, he's not a deep threat. Deep threat is some one who can get vertical on a consistent basis from outside the hash marks. That's why they're very few deep threats in the NFL, can Samuel become one? maybe, but based on his college tape he's not one

As of now Samuel is more like Tavon Austin, another guy who many thought can be a deep threat just cause of his speed. But his college tape showed the contrary most of his catches were swing passes, screens and other in between the hash marks.

    • Yeah that with the Taylor Moton clip from yesterday...These guys have felt completely hamstrung the last two weeks
    • Our receivers were right there on the field, they also watched Bryce on film, and it sounds like they're looking forward to Dalton. Xavier Legette on Andy Dalton: "He got a fine understanding of things. I like the way he throws the ball and how to position it, so I feel like we going be good... On the go balls, he knows the right timing and the right among of air... The deep ball that's something I feel I'm good at, and that's something I been working on at practice [with Andy]... I ain't talked to him [Bryce] about it [the benching] yet, but we just got to continue to play. Next man up, and it's Andy."   Diontae Johnson on Andy Dalton: "A vet who's been back there for a while and knows the game, so once you have a guy like that back there, it allows you to be yourself more... He takes a lot off our plate just by having that experience knowing what to do, getting us the right calls, knowing when the pressure is coming..."
