Funchess demoted?

Bersin is a more reliable pass catcher. 

I would never say that Bersin has more potential or should be starting, because that's ludicrous. But he runs good routes and catches most everything thrown his way. He's an adequate receiver. 

Funchess should be playing late into preseason games right now. He hasn't earned the right to take time off in any of the four games.

I think he should be used in certain packages. Maybe adjust his route patterns. He should be facing the QB and his back to the DB so that he can use his size to box out. Also, I felt he was used as a decoy running deep so that some routes could develop underneath.

Nah. The way DA was playing, Ron just wanted to give Devin some more work. Same with Russ, and Sammy, and Byrd. Had DA given Funch or any of the receivers legit opportunities to make plays we would've seen Frazier, and Clay, and Duke come in sooner.

Yeah I definitely can see this take...DA was not giving anyone a chance...who knows

Funchess had two nice grabs, but if was a non factor, then everyone not named Benjamin was a non factor.

 

At this point, our receiving corps is what it is. It will surprise me if we make any moves, because the powers that be appear to have seen enough to justify staying set at the position. That being said, I don't see anyone leaping Funchess anytime soon, especially not based upon last night.

I don't think he is a enigma. I just don't think he is that good. The athleticism he was billed as having hasn't shown on the field and he can't separate from CBS.

Yes they were non factors. KB, Cmac, Olsen and Stewart were the only ones that seemed to stand out. I think you can bet they will get the majority of the balls on regular season as well. Byrd, Samuel, and Funchess did nothing. While I will let them slide a bit because Anderson was horrible.
