Could Curtis Samuel's Injury Be A Blessing In Disguise?

Even if Samuel isn't the most polished WR right now, he has raw speed which you can't teach, and is something that our WR's rarely have (In recent memory there's only been Ginn and Byrd. with Ginn having butterfingers and Byrd almost never getting regular season playing time). 

In reality  , no one knows how good hes going to be. Using Terrell Pryor as an example, its not impossible to switch positions and be very successful at the position you end up switching too. And Samuel has been receiving for at least a couple seasons at OSU even if he did rush it alot  too. 

I think if Samuel does learn how to be a good WRs, his background in being a RB for a while combined with his speed could make him a YAC monster for us.

@MasterAwesome I'd rather have the surgeon that actually understands what he's doing AND has experience. That's what Samuel's going through right now. If he started earlier, he likely would still be unsure of what he's doing because doing & not having much time to process makes it harder. Just like a surgeon who only studies for a little bit and tries to practice and makes mistakes will likely make a habit of said mistakes and ultimately fail.

I'd prefer the guy who studies his ass off the day after he gets drafted and then shows up to work ready to go. 

If the way Samuel has gone about it was the ideal way, someone would have figured it out by now. There's a reason everyone shows up to practice at the same time, including the rookie WRs.

I still have high hopes and expectations for Samuel, but you will never convince me that just reading the playbook alone is a better way to learn than reading the playbook and then physically practicing what you read while it's still fresh in your mind.
