Palardy pushing Lee according to Joe Person

And, no, this time I'm not linking the article because I'm tired of the Charlotte Observer's poo about going over my allotment and a digital subscription. They ain't the only game in town, so fug 'em!

Anyway, Palardy has been doing well from all reports, so much so that it's not a stretch to believe that he really could replace Lee, and to be honest most of us probably couldn't see that coming based upon last season. I mean, there was a marked difference between their averages, and honestly Palardy was a bottom feeder in the rankings. Now, Palardy has upped his game so much that he actually might take Lee's spot.

Now, I know there was at least one person in a thread the other day that suggested that Palardy might have some trade value, but we may be getting to the point where the FO is looking at Lee's trade value as opposed to the much younger, perhaps more durable, Palardy.

Now one thing I'd like to add is that Lee is one of the better directional punters in the league, but Palardy looks like he has even boned up on that skill as well. 

Of course most of us aren't privy to the practices, but if Palardy keeps punting like he has been this preseason, then would it really be wise to let him walk if he could answer the call for the next decade or more?

Palardy is 25. Lee is 35 and coming off of an injury that IR'd him last year. Anything is possible.

What most of you fail to realize is that Mike had a bunch of short yardage punts (45-50-45 yard lines) that brought his average down last season. In the 8 games he played, he rarely had chances to boom the ball from deep in his own end. The Panthers coaches realize this - and people forget Mike led the nation his senior year at Tennessee in punts inside 20. Oh, yeah - as a lefty, the ball rotates off his foot differently - more difficult for returners to gauge than right footed punters.

Think he has a shot, if he continues to play well, stays focused and hungry.

I have doubts. 

No real reason to play Lee in preseason all that much. It's not like he needs the experience.

Lee is 100% the punter barring another injury. There is no debate whatsoever.

Thomas, not saying you are wrong, but where are you getting your info from? Have you attended every practice, have an "in" with the coaching staff? Just curious.

This ish is ridiculous. Lee is our punter no question. Dude is money from wherever on the field. He could still give at minimum 3 more years of elite punting.

You never know with this franchise, the way things have gone lately. But it would be a really bad idea to let Lee go.
