Potential Safety Cuts

All I know is that we need to be watching for additional options at safety. You can't tell me there won't be better options available than Jones and McCray. Neither of pur starters are spring chickens and Adams is flat out old for an NFL DB. We have to have better depth behind these guys. Really cussing Gettleman right now for knee jerk cutting Boston. Yeah, Boston wasn't starting caliber but he was netter depth than Jones and McCray.

I'm not.  Boston's inept play against the Falcons was enough.

Calvin Pryor could have been had for almost nothing.  Cheap with upside.  Oh well.

At least we're near the top of the waiver wire.  There will be decent band aids.

Buffalo: SS Bacarri Rambo- Rambo has had a less than stellar career and graded out as the 88th ranked safety in 2016. The Bills recently brought Rambo back but he could easily become expendable if the Bills elect to go with special teams ace Colt Anderson. Rambo has 1 tackle and 1 QB hit in one preseason game with the Bills.

Cleveland: SS Ibraheim Campbell- Campbell could be a surprise cut for the Browns as they now have the ability to roll with Peppers and they have more depth at the safety position than they've had before. Campbell graded out as 85th safety in 2016. Campbell has not suited up for the Browns in preseason as he is currently out with a concussion.

New York Jets: SS Shamarko Thomas- Thomas was a somewhat highly touted player out of Syracuse and has managed to put together a couple solid games with the Steelers but he could never string together multiple good games. He may earn a roster spot with Middleton on IR now for the Jets, but his roster spot is still in jeopardy. Thomas has 4 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss this preseason.

New York Giants: SS Duke Ihenacho- Ihenacho has struggled a bit since entering the NFL but has managed to keep getting opportunities. He's injury prone and was ranked as the 80th safety in 2016 but he may be better than what's on the roster. Ihenacho has 1 tackle in one preseason game with the Giants.

Philadelphia: FS Jaylen Watkins- Another case of there just not being enough room on the roster. Watkins graded out as the 66th safety in 2016 and actually performed adequately. He could be a solid backup for the Panthers. Watkins has 2 tackles this preseason.

Rambo is my personal pick from that list, so long as he doesn't hurt himself and his teammates with his lack of discipline.

Antone Exum Jr (MIN) & Kurtis Drummond (HOU) could get some looks if they don't make their current rosters. Both have their issues tho.

I keep hearing Mike Mitchell being a surprise cut but I just don't see it. As much as I want them to bring in another starter, I feel like we're going to be targeting young players to grow into the role (ie: Southward & McCray).

I almost included Exum actually.

The only reason I didn't is because Minnesota analysts and fans seem to think that the Vikes will carry 5 safety's (Harrison Smith, Andrew Sendejo, Anthony Harris, Jayron Kearse, and Antone Exum).

I think he's still having some issues from knee surgery? I don't think he's been active in training camp so far... I could be wrong.

I really liked Exum coming out of college for CB depth. Drummond I was iffy on. I haven't seen enough from either though to give me any inclination that they'll be better than McCray or Southward in the NFL

Add Tedric Thompson to this list.  They're saying he's a likely cut.  http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/tedric-thompson?id=2557881

4th Rd pick this year.  I usually disregard Seahawks simply because I assume they're turds, but maybe their stink hasn't rubbed off on him yet.  Not to mention having him may be an advantage when we inevitably have to play them again.  Apparently he's been bad, but that may be good news for us if he gets whacked, to get cheap, young FS depth with upside.
