Saxy Quick Takes

Holy Hall & Oats that was a hard game to watch but it actually made me quite more interested in this team (in a good way).

To get a few points out there:

-Armah is a specimen.  He's a defensive player at heart who figured out how to play fullback.  I think his potential and future hype is warranted.

-McCaffrey (#RunCMC) looks like the real deal.  Yeah, preseason, yadda yadda, ensalada, esplanada.  He is bringing life to the offense without Cam.  Both full power behind the new hogs is incendiary.

-CAP looks quite improved.  His cuts are looking more like his Auburn days and I think CMC's ability has rubbed off on him.  Stewart-CMC-CAP could be lethal...because...

-Our RUN BLOCKING has looked VERY good this preseason.  This is something we have been wildly inconsistent at but this Moton fellow looks like a perfect infusion next to our stud interior.  Armah leading CMC to the right behind Turner and Moton can be pretty damn strong.

and now you salty scalawags...

-Who's hype I'm not quite buying yet: Any wide receiver.  Funchess had supposedly improved but he still looks like Funchess.  Byrd trended last week but was meh, Clay is probably going to trend now, and then maybe Duke again.  I hope Hurney watches the wire for safety and WR cuts.

Action Items for Hurney:

-Keep an eye out for a safety, a backup QB, and a WR as cuts some in.

And now, something entirely unrelated:

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
