Still the same ol' twin towers? I hope not.

Never understood the people who dog KB for putting up nearly 1000 yards in the two seasons he's played while so many hold out hope for Funchess to become this mythical #1 WR.

Sure, I'd like to see KB be more consistent, but he's definitely not a problem for this WR corps.

Yeah. Maybe. But is simply being a big-bodied receiver that can win jump balls enough to justify paying top dollar to when he decides he wants a big ol' contract?

And the reason people hold out more hope for Funchess is because Funchess is basically the more athletic of the two. He's certainly the faster, better route runner.

Athleticism only gets you so far.

No one will debate who the better athlete of the two is and although Funchess is obviously the better route runner his route running combined with his inability to use his body just doesn't get the job done. Benjamin although a poor route runner, he knows how to use his body and that's the difference

As a tweet came out today eluded to... effort. He barely attempted to go vertical for a reception.

Being horsefed doesn't count. Cam loves to target Benjamin even when he's draped with 2-3 defenders. His numbers are simply inflated to me.

Oh boo hoo KB didn't go up for a ball at PRACTICE.

KB goes up and gets balls when it matters. Funchess shows up in practice because he knows he isn't going to get hit.

It's like Gettleman just got a free agent who can run those routes (Shepard) and drafted two receivers who are great route runners (CMC & Samuel) and one who is a deep & vertical burner who separates (Samuel).

Yeah, honestly I keep forgetting about Shepard. Seriously. Yeah, I know. I know. He has upside blah blah blah. Perhaps once the season starts and he makes an impact he will actually make an impression upon me. I'll give him his due.

But Saca, I didn't quote you because of Shepard, I'm requesting that you---EVERYONE--refrain from referring to CMC as a receiver. He's an RB---a multidimensional one---but an RB all the same.

Is it...the real difference? Funchess is not as physical as Benjamin, but I think that the biggest difference between the two is that Cam is looking Benjamin's way a whole lot more than Funchess, at many times when he shouldn't be. If Cam and Funchess can establish and solidify chemistry, then you'll see the truth.

Funchess had one of the worst catch rates in the NFL. THE worst among players with 50+ targets.

And that's on Funchess. You need to prove to your QB he can trust you as a WR. Benjamin has done that. There's a reason why Cam looks Benji's way and not Devin's at crucial times. Devin hasn't done a whole lot to make Cam throw it to him over Benji.

We've seen Devin slip on routes, not fight for balls, not fight through contact. I'm not saying Benjamin is perfect but you know he's going to go up and do everything in his power to come down with that ball, with Devin you never know.

Of course. Funchess has never been a starter and Benjamin has always been one. He was 4th of receivers last year in snap count. 5th taking in to consideration Olsen. This season provides a significant opportunity for that to change.  As a 3rd year guy its time for Funchess to step up...or not.

Fair enough. He is by far his best as a runningback. But honestly, if he went into the draft as a pure slot, he'd be one of the top slots from his class. That's what makes his game so great.

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
