Thomas Davis signs contract extension

He's locked up until 2018, but the Panthers website doesn't say for how much yet. 

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the extension is worth $6.75 million and adds $2 million in guaranteed money this year. The deal includes $1 million in guarantees next season, per Rapoport.

Too much for what should be a backup by then. Love TD and it is only a year but this doesn't help the team.

What makes no sense is why Gettleman was fired in the first place? Just a one year extension? Really? And JR got butthurt over that?

I was livid when Richardson fired Gettleman, and I'm still sore about it. However, if Gettleman was balking at signing TD to a small extension like this, then yeah, he was going too far. I am all about not getting too emotionally attached to players, but from a leadership AND talent perspective, a deal like this is completely reasonable on TD's part.
