Jared Allen > Peppers

You summed it up perfectly Mr. Scot, what we have here is motor vs overall talent and ability. If Peppers had the same motor as Allen we wouldn't even be having this discussion. So which is better...a high motor guy or the the talent. I would normally say the motor but I just can't stand Allen's antics so I'll take Peppers in this one but its close...as it should be.

In truth, there are examples that work both ways.

Marlon Favorite probably had all the work ethic you'd want in a player, but it just wasn't enough to overcome his physical limitations. On the flipside you have guys like Kris Jenkins. They don't work as hard as the guys around them, but they're so physically gifted you still want them on the field.

We have that same debate on our team right now honestly (Dwayne Jarrett vs Kenny Moore).

The trick is being able to tell which is which.

I agree with you 100%. I just quoted that portion because I think that Kenny Moore runs better routes, has better to equal hands, and has much better speed...all while working much hard than Jarrett. I love the fact that Moore is where he is right now and I look forward to him being more of a factor as the season goes on.

I wouldn't want Jarred Allen because of that silly hairband thing he wears and that stupid thing he does after he gets a sack. Those aside, yes he is probably the best DE in football right now. Of coarse if Pepp or Charles Johnson had the Williams Wall as their interior, things could conceivably be different...

Lets all be real here

Pep on his best day >> Allen on his best day

Unfortunately, Pep best day is starting to become once per season

You have that backwards. Allen on his best day >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Peppers on best day. When was the last time Pep had 4.5 sacks, a safety and a fumble in one game?

Peppers must seriously have no pride in his work. There is no way he is legitimately getting beat by back up tackles unless he isn't trying. Other than his technique sucking he isn't putting out much effort. It would be hard for me to believe that his skills have diminished that bad to the point where Hilee Taylor could outplay him. He just isn't bringing it.

Well on Pep's best days he has shown he can do more than just rush the passer. Allen is better at rushing the passer and rarely has bad days. I would say Pep has the potential for much better performances based on his talent......but getting that out of him is a different thing. Allen > Peppers, Peppers has more pure talent and physical ability though than 99% of the DEs in the league.....which means nothing at the end of the day.

I assume this 1% is for Mario Williams?

to be fair Peppers is bashed for performing well against the Lions of the NFL......Jared Allen just had a great game against possibly the worst OL in the league....facing a backup and then a backup's backup. Lots of guys pad there stats and look like beasts against scrubs.
