Freeman in the Protocol

Disclaimer: I DO NOT WANT Luke to get another concussion.

Freeman doesn't have a history of multiple concussions or a history of major concussions, Luke does. If Luke gets another major concussion this coming year, he, or his Dr.s, may decide the sensible thing to do is to retire. Don't see that as an unreasonable  at all.

You seem to think that Keuchley isn't more at risk for concussion than any other player, when  history shows otherwise.

You also think that Luke's warrior spirit, which he has in spades, will keep him playing the game. It certainly will if he gets dinged in a game and misses a week. He gets another major concussion though, his priorities may change. One thing to walk with a limp later in life because of football, quite another to literally lose your mind later in life.

I enjoy the way Keuchley plays the game, want him on the field. I'm also want him to have a long, good quality life. He may not be able to have both. If he can't , i want him to have the long good quality life.

Luke has suffered two concussions, I'll give you that, but now you're trying to make a new classification and distinction. From what I know, there is no such thing as a "major" concussion. A concussion is classified as mild, moderate or severe. To my knowledge, Luke didn't lose consciousness during either concussion, so his would be considered moderate, as would Freeman's considering that he returned the next day with symptoms.

According to WebMD, mild concussions are where symptoms last for less than 15 minutes, while moderate ones last greater. There is loss of consciousness with severe. concussions.

Science still knows relatively little about concussions, but enough to know that they effect people differently. In theory one concussion could end a career with one player, where with another player it might take multiple shots.

All I am saying is that you don't know who is in a worse position. You can't spin concussions.

Sean Lee suffers from one every season.

Luke is gonna be fine.

We hope that Luke is "gonna be fine." There is no way to spin this. He plays football. Platitudes don't mean diddly squat, really.

Luke had a concussion that caused him to miss 3 games in 15 and another that caused him to miss 6 in 16. Considering it's possible to go through the concussion protocol in a week. I'd say he  had major concussions both time, even if that isn't the proper technical term.

Freeman had a concussion last year, was practicing a week later and back in the game 2 weeks later. Anything can happen, but it certainly looks to me that Kuechley had  more significant concussions  than Freeman.

That's not the point.

Lee is made out of glass. If he can keep coming back, then Luke will be too. Kuechly has stated he doesn't intend to retire any time soon. He loves the game and doesn't play recklessly like other defenders looking for a highlight reel hit.

Because you can only get concussions playing "recklessly looking for a highlight reel hit".

What kind of f'n logic is this?

That's all fine and good, but don't miss the point. Moreover, the Panthers rightly were playing it safe with Kuechly (and we won without him in 2015, and 2016 was a lost cause). You better hope that the Falcons are smart enough to do the same.

So far, the new FO has done pretty much everything right, not going to worry about it until it becomes a problem.

Luke Kuechly missed 6 games on paper, but really he was out of concussion protocol in 2. Panthers didn't put him in due to the fact we had great depth and the season was a lost cause anyways,

He's had the same amount of concussions as Freeman. Kuechly will be fine, and so will Freeman most likely.

Welp so both Freeman and Luke got concussions this year. So there goes that @falconidae

Luckily Luke's wasn't the same "type" of area of concussion, so he's fine in terms of it not affecting his past history. Not sure about Freeman.

Anyways, Freeman is expected to miss multiple weeks over his recent concussion, according to Schefter.

I just want to watch the leagues best go at it.  Injuries suck but it’s inevitable.

I just wish that guys could ignore the short term and just let their bodies heal without some team doc or coach or captain askin him every 10 min if he’s ready to go.

Guys come back too fast and bad things happen.  Again, I’ve already said I hope the kid is ok.  Just take your time young fella.  Proving you don’t have a SB hangover is not worth bruising the ol peach.

Sit down, have a glass of sweet tea and enjoy a little break.  Your career will be better for it.

For the first ten seconds or so, Freeman was wobbly like a drunk. I know TD said he didn't think the hit did it, but on the last camera angle replay, the sudden stop/snap looked pretty clear to me. Regardless, Ed Hochuli saw it immediately and sent him to the sideline for evaluation. Great call.

Schefter said the opposite of what you're saying he did, though...
