Aaron Rodgers was one concussion away from supposedly having his career end back in 2010.

He's still playing strong today. What's to say Luke can't do the same?

No one is saying that, and I'm sure that we all hope for the best. But there's no way to spin concussions. All you can do is hope for the best because you never know.

As for Rodgers, I'd think that it's a lot easier for a QB to avoid concussions than most other positions (save for kickers). When you're in on a lot of tackles like RB or MLB, it's tough. Jahvid Best and Dan Morgan are prime examples.

If Luke can get through a certain window of time without another severe concussion, he could have a long and wonderful career. If he gets another severe concussion too soon, it's probably good night sweet prince.

The specifics, of course, remain a mystery to medical science. But it's not a matter of "going down easily" - these are medical matters, and it has nothing to do with your "fighting spirit" or toughness or whatever. It's really just random luck, i.e. complex and poorly-understood material factors. Like recovery from spinal injuries, say.

Yes it was.

Probably should've made it more obvious. Luke isn't going down that easily. Yet everyone seems to think that he'll surely get a concussion next year and be out the rest of his life. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Saca, where are all these people that are saying this? I'm here quite a bit, and I haven't seen what you're selling. Acknowledging the nature of concussions and realizing the increased possibility that a player can suffer one with each passing concussion is the prudent and responsible thing to do. Sure, you don't have to focus on it, but you should be aware. No need to spin it!

Not on here. From rival fanbases and NFL places in general. Should've been more specific

So should I be like every Falcon fan and say "hur-dur Freeman's just one concussion away from ending his career?"

I hate seeing anyone in concussion protocol, but far too often I see "Luke's just one hit away from the Panthers LB corps sucking" like they're wishing for it to happen.

Here's to Freeman getting healthy and remaining concussion free for the rest of his career. Screw anyone who wishes a concussion upon anyone.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT WANT Luke to get another concussion.

Freeman doesn't have a history of multiple concussions or a history of major concussions, Luke does. If Luke gets another major concussion this coming year, he, or his Dr.s, may decide the sensible thing to do is to retire. Don't see that as an unreasonable  at all.

You seem to think that Keuchley isn't more at risk for concussion than any other player, when  history shows otherwise.

You also think that Luke's warrior spirit, which he has in spades, will keep him playing the game. It certainly will if he gets dinged in a game and misses a week. He gets another major concussion though, his priorities may change. One thing to walk with a limp later in life because of football, quite another to literally lose your mind later in life.

I enjoy the way Keuchley plays the game, want him on the field. I'm also want him to have a long, good quality life. He may not be able to have both. If he can't , i want him to have the long good quality life.

he'll be "fine" as in cleared to play football. when he's 50 though...

that can be any football player, whether they suffered a concussion or not. although, i would imagine most guys have suffered them at some point, it may or may not have been reported though. the guys that are in their 50's now, didnt miss any time for concussions, only major broken bones or ligament damage.
