USA Today's Lucas Ewing (@PanthersLucas) TC Awards

I know that some of you (shout out to @KB_fan) made note to include Lucas Ewing's twitter updates in our camp threads because he provided good and consistent info. Well, now he's providing a final synopsis of sorts with an awards article.

Here is an excerpt from one of the five, offensive MVP, Devin Funchess:

Funchess came into the league making plays. His rookie season he caught 31 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns. Last year was a disappointment for him statistically, but all signs point to him skyrocketing in 2017. At camp, Funchess made more plays than his counterpart Kelvin Benjamin, and altogether showed more ability against second year cornerbacks Daryl Worley and James Bradberry.

Working with the first-team offense, there was no receiver Derek Anderson depended more on than Funchess. With Benjamin more of a red zone target and Russell Shepard being new to the offense, Funchess was effectively the team’s true number one receiver.

Honarable Mention: Christian McCaffrey

For the others, you can hit the link. But here's a spoiler:

Defensive MVP, KK Short (HM, Bradberry)

Best Rookie, CMC (HM, Moton)

Best FA, Cap Munnerlyn (HM, Shepard)

Most Improved, David Mayo (HM, Manhertz)

Like I said, to see what he has to say about each, hit the link. He doesn't discuss the honorable mentions though. It's good to see another observer's perspective. Would be nice for @Jeremy Igo to weigh in (especially since he gave the D---err, eggplant---err, entire enchilada to Bradberry).

I'll take my leave now.

If Cam looks his way more often and if Rivera/Shula can implement him correctly, I think Funchess can actually be a very, very productive WR. Thus far, he's proven to be more clutch than Benjamin. That said, Devin makes the hard receptions look easy but makes the easy receptions look hard. Funch needs to stay more consistent.

Devin has made some crazy catches in key moments for this team. Some in his rookie year, even. That's called clutch.

One off year in a bad season for the whole team and ya'll act like he's some bum. Put some respeck on his name.

Funchess hasn't done much since coming into the league but that wasn't even the point. However, since you can't read (not surprising) you'd see I was responding to the claim that Funchess was more clutch than Benjamin which is a ridiculous statement.

And don't sit here and cry about people not respecting Funchess when people trash our only 1k WR daily.

Nothing I said was untrue, meathead. Now go back to the kid's table.

Ive never seen anyone be so wrong about just about everything and continue to take themselves as serious as you take yourself. So congrats you're one of a kind.
