Norwell hired Rosenhaus

The small hope is the Panthers put the second round tender on him and no one bit. The huge problem with the large cap increase yearly, OGs and DT have had a huge increase in overall salary.  I hope they can come to terms around 10 per with nearly half guarantees. Norwell earned this and you have to keep these types on the rosters.

Hypothetical-

Nothing gets done.  With Norwell, or anyone else.  Marty shows restraint.

We start out at least 6-2, as we should.  At least.

The Texans start out 2-5.  Not unlikely if you look at their schedule.

The Titans start out 5-2.  Not unlikely, including the all important win in Houston.

Watt is still averaging a sack a game and looks at least 80-85% of what he used to be.

Fast forward to October 30.  Would Marty have the balls or restraint to give or not give our first rounder to the Texans (who have no 1st OR 2nd in 2018) for Watt?

What would you do?

And no this isn't too far fetched.  Especially after the Watt trade rumors during the offseason.

Olsen is signed for 2 more years. Norwell, thanks to Bradbury and Getts letting 24 walk we should have the money to keep Cam protected long term.

Cap should increase by 10% and cutting couple of vet contracts  can help extended both Norwell & Star.

Cap problems big time. We couldn't absorb Watt's $16M contract. No way I'd give up a 1st for him knowing what we'd have to lose (can't sign Norwell and Star and lose 1st rounder). Even if Watt looks great, it would be awful for us cap wise.

Obviously it's unlikely, but we're going to save money by cutting Gano and Watt would only cost half of this year's salary if it takes place at the halfway point.  Remember, the Texans got creative and ate salary to dump Osweiler.  Maybe they eat salary while we give them 1 and 2 for Watt and their 3 and 4.  Crazy but worth keeping in mind as the year unfolds.  Even an 80% Watt would make this the greatest D ever and have BOA at an all time bananas level with Matthew coming to town on Nov 5.  Yes, unlikely as it may be, an 80% Watt for 2-3 years on a hefty salary still likely trumps whatever DE is available in the late 1st 2018.
