Beane makes his first big moves. Trades Sammy Watkins, but gets Jordan Matthews. Also trades a 3rd rounder for Ronald Darby.

All I can say is that I have a buddy who is a huge Eagles fan and he DESPISED Matthews. Evidently the dude is Ginn-esque when it comes to catching (or rather, NOT catching) the ball.

Odd, because the guy was super reliable coming out of college. He was a guy I really wanted for us.

Time has made for fuzzy memories around here, but for years Hurney was regarded as a "cap guru" of sorts.

Yep, Hurney was always considered primarily a cap guy more so than a true personnel guy. Then it all blew up on him when draft gambles that didn't work out and backloaded contracts combined to create a roster tight against the cap and light on talent across the roster. At least we had a couple of superstars in key positions.

The Eagles deal had been discussed between the two teams before the NFL draft.

That was well before Beane had been hired in Buffalo.

Beane got an extra 1 from KC for Mahomes and now a 2nd for Watkins, he knows their time isn't now.

I couldn't care less about the Gettleman vs Hurney it's Beane that I'm most pissed about losing 

He actually wanted to be a GM not a yes man. Could you imagine the Hart attack JR would have if we tried to make moves like that.

Well they did declined to pick up his 5th year option..... They could've waited to see how the season went and if his health held up but now they have two 1st, two 2nd, and two 3rds in next years draft

I agree but I think Beane knows they're not in position to win now and if you're not going to win it all then don't beat around the bush. 

Matthews will be A LOT cheaper to bring back than Watkins.

Darby to Gains, yeah that's a drop off (I like Darby) but those picks are big. But like you said gotta hit or they're gearing up to trade all their picks for Darnold.
