ne patriots second rounders between 2013-2016 were jamie collins, aaron dobson, cyrus jones, jordan richards, and jimmy garoppalo.

one of those guys blew up and went all pro and they traded him away. the rest are either depth or busts that they let go of. if they can't consistently draft studs in the 2nd, then that's pretty much all you need to know that this is a stupid metric to judge a personnel evaluator on.

Patriots are balanced overall in terms of resources used on personnel on one side of the ball versus the other.

The Panthers however are clearly a defensive team, and lean quite heavily that way in personnel.

Taking that into account it's interesting how eager you are to chalk this up as inconsequential. But I'm sure it has nothing to do with who drafted him.

It's not about it being inconsequential it's the fact that it happens around the league at such a high rate, even to some if not most of the best GMs. Acting like this is some huge mark against our former GM is petty and stupid comparatively speaking to all the good he has done. Freefua has a superiority complex talking like he can make better decisions from his couch.

the best thing the patriots figured out is that building through the draft especially past round one is a stupid principle and not something you should dedicate so much effort into filling 85% of your roster. they realized that there is only so much value you can get out of the draft. they use their picks as currency. half the time they don't even draft in the first round.

Overall the Patriots seem to have it down to a formula. One can throw out the cheating scandals if they want, but like them or not, they are a dynasty.

Rereading this thread it's both interesting and bewildering how people can't fathom that Gettleman could have done more or done a few things differently to get us past the buzzsaw that was the 2015 Broncos defense.

I mean it's not lIke the exact same story played out several months later in our home opener of 2016. That'd be crazy, right?

You'll never witness success if you never question yourself or reevaluate the steps that got you to that point. You certainly won't by just sitting around sucking your own cock because you can't get past your own ego. Some Panthers fans are hopelessly clinging to anything they've got left.

you're asking for somebody to explain why the guy who just got fired for being too forward with the players didn't just go off on different paths and strategies?

i'm not going to try to reverse engineer the success of the patriots at the atomic level because far too many people have spent far too much time explaining the patriots organization, but in short, a lot of the reason is that they don't have this point A to B vision of what makes a successful team like carolina does (get a defensive minded coordinator, run the ball conservative offense, build through the draft), they don't put the draft on a pedestal, and they also don't appoint incompetent toadies to be coordinators that implement offensive systems that require elite talent to be able to function properly.

I mean, let's just put it all out there. Jerry Richardson is a bottom tier owner living in a bygone era of football. All roads ultimately lead there.

I've got nothing against him on a personal level, and yes I realize we have him to thank for having a team, and no I don't want him to die or any messed up ignorant poo like that. But at the end of the day it's his way, and he's lining his pockets regardless of if it works, or if we win, or if we are even remotely relevant.

I'm probably on an island here but I like thered. I mean...yeah he's a huge a-hole and all, but I enjoy his posts mostly.

That's because you haven't dared question  Cam. He will immediately label you a shitposter and stalk you around the forum. I had him on ignore before I took a hiatus last season. Don't know why I bothered to give him some attention when I returned. He's truly the worst.

As expected...  what a bum.

And whether you love or hate Hurney or Gettleman, we as Panthers fans should all be able to come together and agree, WE SUCK AT 2ND ROUND PICKS.

I hope Samuels bucks the trend, but man...

bradberry and kalil doe

meh....I've beefed with thered plenty of times. We don't always agree and yeah he can be a dick, but he's not an idiot. I'd rather argue with someone than have another idiot poster. Plus it's funny to me when he messes with people and they get upset.

so then why have such grandiose expectations of brilliance from an executive? he's not going to beat the owner because he can't fire an owner, but the owner sure as poo can fire his ass.

the next gm is going to have to be an appeaser more than anything else. it might as well be marty. history has proven that you can last longer here for being more of an appeaser than someone who actually wants to build a good football team, disgruntled former players' opinions be damned.

Cam is the main reason this team is even remotely in the discussion as a playoff contender.

If you still think he's an issue, you are either a shitposter, or a complete nincompoop.

Also, you conveniently *wink wink* take a hiatus the year we only win 6 games, but I'm the worst? Ehhh.
