It may be preseason, but Shula already showing our worst fears

It's preseason he didn't want to show too much of the playbook. Nothing to worry about. The fact that he can run between the tackles is promising he got over 4 ypc.

I don't understand the concept of not practicing the plays in your playbook in the pre-season against actual competition and saving them, unpracticed and unused, for the regular season.

Especially if many of those plays are supposedly "new" due to "evolution".

Sounds like a recipe for early season failure.

Coincidentally enough, early season failure is not a rare feature of the Rivera/Shula regime.

Hard to say without Cam playing. Pretty much the same ole same ole so far.

Yeah, I'm am all aflutter wondering when the "evolution" comes in, because last night's offense looked really familiar.

P.S. I said a number of times in the offseason that by "evolution" all Ron/Mike might be referring to is not "changing the offense" but "players playing better".   I'm scared.  Hold me?

If a clear hole doesn't open up he tries to punch through on pure strength and he's getting less effective at that with age.  I hope that Christian taking the load off will make him more efficient but lately he's looked like he's stumbling forward on handoff.

The lack of creativity with CMC especially was concerning. I'm praying that it was just to not show their hand and/or to test his durability between the tackles.

7 carries, 33 yards for CMC. One target on a botched screen. No checkdowns or implemented passing plays showing any type of creativity. Four runs in a row at one point. At least the line looked good. Oh, and why's he coming off the field on third down?

And my favorite call of the night, a direct give between the tackles to Fozzie on 3rd and 2.

If our offensive line is able to give Cam the type of protection all year that it gave DA last night, we should all be hoping Shula stays relatively close to what he did in 2015 (minus a good bit of the read action stuff)  I'd still use some of the option stuff sparingly and also in a way that doesn't have Cam taking unnecessary hits

Cam Throws a great deep ball. I'd hate to see us get away from that (unless our line is unable to give him adequate time or the shoulder needs more of the short stuff).

I don't know what y'all are watching but I have never seen a pre season game yet that looked anything like the regular season offense. People were saying the same damn thing last year, but game 1 of the season didn't look anything like any of the pre season games and the same thing was true in 2015.

Haven't read through the 5 pages preceding this post, but why do you believe it is in the best interest of the Panthers to show their hand with McCaffrey in the preseason?

Pssst..... every year we say its preseason and Shula isn't showing much... and every season the regular season is no different than preseason.

If that's true he's done and so is Ron. More than any other year I feel like if we don't do something spectacular that JR has lost his patients

People make up things to fit their own (or someone else) narrative.

All you have to do is watch :

1. Line play in 2015 compared to 2016.

2. Watch the WR play in 2015 to 2016 (yes more drops , but much sharper route running and lots more quickness and speed).

If our O line plays like last night we will be a top 7 offense.

If our D plays like last night we will be a top 3 offense.
