I doubt it's that serious but a "sprain" can imply just about any severity. Grade 3 being the complete tear you refer to.

Yes, but we're all familiar with the normal terminology used in these situations.

Sprain in this context would be used to signify that's it's not a complete tear.

They told us KB's was a sprain too before the MRI. Ugh

Im pretty sure they say everyone has a "knee sprain" before they get an MRI but I feel pretty good because the doctor did a knee stability test on the sidelines and they would know pretty quickly if it was torn.

Are you familiar with the normal healing times between a grade 1 and grade 2? Could be the difference in several games...

Yeah, I was going to come in here and be a debbie downer but uncfan beat me to it. 

An ACL tear is in itself, a severe sprain. He quite possibly still tore it. They were telling us the same thing with KB a few years ago.

Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst over here.
